I have to fire someone this morning

I've been listening to Ten all morning to prepare for this.
I am excited to do it- this person is a real moron and establishing a paper trail has been the main focus of my job for about 3 months.

See you sucker!
Good prevails once again!

Getting satisfaction out of firing someone doesn’t say much about you.

I too have had to fire people before, and you’re right, the paper trail is the key to back up your decision.

However, to me, no matter how bad the employee may be, there’s something wrong if you enjoy doing it.
Don't come closer or I'll have to go
  • Lame Post!!
  • there is a guy I really need to fire at work also, however, unlike you, i cannot sike myself up for it. it is probably past time to fire this guy, but i cannot bring myself to do it, even though i know it needs to be done. oh well, soon enough i'll figure out a way.

no matter how much of an asshole this guy/gal is...taking satisfaction in firing someone..especially in this shitty jobless economy isn't something you should look forward to...that makes you look like a douche IMO.

I agree with the OP. A person stealing from homeless people and children is the douche here.

I'd be stoked to not have a thief working for me . . . Call me crazy. :)
    NERDS!
  • You all are unreal-
so a guy steals time and items from his employer- I receive 30 resumes a day from people who want to work- this guy adds nothing to anything and I'm a jerk for looking foward to ending his employment?

Should I add he's a black guy so you all can call me a racist too?

no, you have to do what you have to do and obviously this guy does deserve it, but I still don't get the excitement you seem to be getting out of it

The OP is feeling joy no different than the Joy that John Maclean gets when he says "Yippie Ki-Yay! Motherfuckers" before he rips apart the bad guys in the wonderful Die Hard movie series.

She caught a bad person, and is excited to get rid of them.

:D I'm not sure if I'd be happy with her firing him in that fashion :D but yep, I agree.

Go get the bad guy OP! :)

hahaha--good for you. tell him to hit the road. yea, it is a shitty economy, but that is all the more reason for this douche bag to appreciate his job more. the jeagler's got your back jenmarie...

on a funny side note, i had to fire this horribly dumb employee a couple years back. this lady proceeded to call out sick the next morning by leaving me a voicemail. i was like, huhhhh?? how much clearer could i have made it last night? you are not coming close to meeting your minimum expectations, we're going to have to let you go. anyway, she called out sick the next day too! so i had my boss call her to emphasize the fact that we didnt want her to work there anymore. i think this lady was on drugs. but it was pretty bizarre.

Having to release someone due to the economy/lay offs sucks.
Having to release someone not performing even though you know they are trying their hardest sucks.

Having to Fire someone who is unproductive and a parasite to your team who i assume was given chances to imrove or who is stealing from a firm you put your life into and your livelyhood depends on it and the livelyhood of the team you have constructed for all to suceed does not suck.

  • It's done-
    I feel great!

To all of you who are saying I'm the jerk for being excited for having the chance to do this- HA!!!! I loved every moment of watching his squirm as i produced document after document proving his inability to hold a 12.00 an hour job!

He begged a little- he went on about his kids- I told him that hopefully he is able to find a job which he can refrain from taking time and itmes s that he can in turn provide for his family.

Anyone want a 12-8 job in a homeless shelter for children in NYC?
I'll consider resumes from the site.

yes. you can't have someone like that when there are vulnerable children there. they always come first and if theres someone there that could possibly harm them, he needs to go, and there's no shame in taking pleasure in firing someone like that.

very :) ever since i started interning at a children's center i've had more of a love for children and i know if any of them grew up and became homeless or ran away, i wouldn't want someone near them that could take advantage of them, either directly or indirectly.
