I've met one or two of those. I think most people are just like their screen persona or better... but there were a couple of people I've been very surprised at :(

Well, I've met quite a few people from here so it ain't me...or maybe I was wearing an incredibly convincing mask and managed to just narrowly escape before Scoob and the gang showed up to yank my mask off and reveal me as a fraud! :eek:

Oh Sen i could tell you stories... things you could never imagine that actually happen.. and they do.

it comes down to people are sad.. and fucked up. and they like affection.. and whomever can give it to them then cool. they dont care what lengths they have to go to.

That is really scary...I never really thought about the fact that someone could steal your pic online and use it for whatever purpose they see fit. I know some people are hesitant to post pics online, etc. and just thought it was their sense of privacy, etc. but this adds a whole other level

yeah i know. I was trying to put it nicely so that these specific people are not......"revealed" :eek: Hadd it been a couple months ago when I was in a different state of mind, i would have WITHOUT hesitation said who they are & what they did!!!

I knew you would be shocked and dismayed that such a thing could happen! I think maybe it's more that they're tricking themselves...it's an escape - they can be anyone they want to be and probably isn't that uncommon. I think MTV just had a true life episode about this but I missed it

that's so true! :eek: you never know what people are like behind closed doors....i try to live an honest life and i'm the same everywhere i go. sometimes i trust people too much and think that just about everyone is as honest as me. that's so not true.

i haven't posted pictures of myself on the new thread....i haven't even looked through it. it doesn't surprise me that someone would try to get away with being someone else. i wonder who it is....the OP needs to give us more clues!

I getcha. To be honest i dont really care who it is.. i mean sure my curiosity will get the best of me but as everyone says it always comes out in the end. what begins in chaos must end in chaos.

The thing that baffles me the most is how much this stuff happens. it adds up until its a pathetic number of people. i really wish someone who has done it would just tell me why.. thats what ive been waiting for all these years.. someone to say this is why i do what i do.

I think a lot of people do this to varying degrees in real life as well. They may act one way at work and another way with family/friends, etc. To a certain degree it's appropriate...it's still aspects of the same person, just adjusted to the situation. I think the internet is so anonymous in some ways that people don't feel as constrained by their insecurites and maybe show parts of themselves they would never express in real life. I know there's a few people who have been really outgoing on here...but say their shy in real life...and I think that's understandable...it's just when they seem like a TOTALLY different person that it's weird...and unfortunately I've seen that too.
