30 Rock & Parks & Rec are good shows but I rarely watch them for whatever reason.

On the baseball front, Phils signed Juan Pierre to a minor league deal. I like this. I guess it'll be between him and Podsednik for a spot on the bench? I like getting some good speed for the bench.

I always hated playing against him when he was with the Marlins - good guy to have on your team.

Great player on the Marlins, I thought he was going to be a great player. Always good to have speed on the bench.

Edit: HA, just looked at baseball reference and dude has 16 career home runs. That has to be the lowest total for a household name in the MLB. That's great.

Turrible. He'll only get 250 at bats tops though, if they sign him. Platoon with Jones, and Arod, jeter and the rest will get occasional DH days, especially Arod. I would just play Jones everyday at DH at that point. I think they'll still end up with Damon but we'll see.

I was thinking about him this morning on my way into work, wondering where he would be this year.

I love Pat. So glad he one won here.

My friends and I always used to joke about how announcers would say that Burrell "doesn't run well" and that's why they'd pinch-run for him in late innings. Brunlett actually scored the clinching run in the '08 World Series pinch-running for Pat (who had just snapped out of an 0-13 slump at a most appropriate time). I've just always loved the phrase "he doesn't run well" as opposed to "he's slow". It's like something you'd say about a physically and/or mentally disabled child at a summer camp.

Counselor 1: Hey is Jimmy gonna play kickball?

Counselor 2: No he doesn't run well, I'm gonna take him to the pool.

Based on the score that looks like a typical Red Sox-Phils game from a few years back.

it was one of those exhibition games right before the season started at Citizens Bank Park a few years ago. Burrell hit a homer off of Dice-K and flipped the bird to Terry Francona. funny stuff

Um, you better fucking hope your GM really doesn't believe this

“The difference between Ryan’s and Cole’s situation is that we’re talking about a guy (Howard) who is very, very difficult to match up what he did in successive years and equate that with what Cole has done,” Amaro said. “He was probably the most productive player during that span of anybody, including Pujols. This is not a slight against Cole — he has had some phenomenal years. But he is not the most decorated player in baseball.”

Step on down Cole, you are welcomed in the Bronx with open arms.

    Edit: And oh...

    Howard: .279/.386/.586, 220 HR, 635 RBI and an OPS+ of 143
    Pujols: .334/.439/.631, 206 HR, 608 RBI and an OPS+ of 173

What am I taking him at his word about? He's obviously trying to justify the Howard contract but in the mean time taking a slight shot at Hamels (at least in saying he's not in the same league as Howard), which seems incredibly foolish. I honestly think he's going to be a Dodger if he gets to free agency, but I hope like hell the Yanks will throw a shit load of money at him.
