    you know the point, you just choose to ignore it. you said 1-12 with 8k's is an idicator that's not a clutch performer in the post season (at least that's what i inferred by you saying he's in "post season form"). as the numbers show below, he's actually been our most consistent playoff performer of the 4 core guys who've been here since 07:

    one thing I have never ripped howard for is being 'unclutch' (not sure if that's a word, but whatever you want to call it)

    howard's playoff stats are symmetrical with his regular season production...decreasing. he's struck out something like 30 of his last 60 playoff ABs (too lazy to add it up right now). so I guess you're right in a sense that he is indeed consistent...it's just not in a good way.

    the guy is far from the player he was back in 06-08

    r6 was literally the only phillie to get on base consistently against the giants. came up woefully small in the last at bat, obviously. but here are then numbers in that series again:

    Placido Polanco: .250/.360/.350
    Chase Utley: .182/.333/.227
    Ryan Howard: .318/.400/.500
    Jayson Werth: .222/.375/.611

    utley can help a team in every facet of the game. howard is one dimensional (hits for power)...unless you want to count striking out as a part of the game.

    I said he was 1-12 with 8 K's in the SF series. In the last three playoff series the phisl have played (I will even give him the benefit of the doubt an include cincy, he is 14-56 with 30 k's (including a k in all 15 games). so when he struck out 75% of the time vs Sf, yes he is in playoff form.

    he's struck out 54% of the time in last 3 playoff series. His BABIP must be ridiculous.

    Anyway, hopefully he and the rest of the lineup get their shit together this time around in the playoffs. Howard certainly wasnt the only reason they lost to SF. I do believe that if he gave them ANYTHING vs the yanks that the phils would have won that series though (games 2 and 3, both losses, he went 0-8 with 7 K's. Ouch)

    as the numbers i have posted have shown howard has done a lot more than hit for power in the post season. we all know he strikes out too much. but if the point of the game, according to you, is to get on base, he's been doing that consistently better than anyone on the team during these last few post seasons. if anything last night's performance (extremely small sample size :thumbup: ) was more indicative of his post season play.

    no he's really not even close to the main reason they lost to sf last year.
