If we keep it up we won't be playing you in the first round. It'll be the Jesus Saves Braves.

Oops - hadn't looked at the standings for a while. Yeah, looks like it'd be Phillies vs. Giants if the season ended today. I'd also be getting some refunds for tickets for games not played, hopefully.

    that blows.

i listened to seth everett's show on saturday on the way into work. he had a former player on who worked in the commisioner's office and dealt with suspensions after he retired. can't remember his name but he had an interesting take. he said vic made it worse by just walking around yelling at the pitcher. he said if he thought he was hit on purpose to just make a decision. either charge the mound or take 1st. lingering and kind of waiting for his teamates to hop onto the field only increases the risk of injuries and more suspensions. probably the reason why it's 3 games and not less.

brawl... i still don't think i saw any punches thrown.

This is a fun article. These teams didn't fare all that well - 2 won World Series in 7 dramatic games, 1 got swept in World Series, and 1 lost in NCLS.

what's your point? the majority of that article centers around RBI numbers. The fact that someone can try to drive home a point with such ridiculous info is hysterical.

Then again, you are the one that liked polacno in the 5 hole

So, anyway. After next Monday this team has 2 more off days the rest of the season. Is there any good reason they shouldn't go to a 6-man rotation? At least in September after callups.

Nope. I don't see it happening though.

They should sign arthur rhodes tomorrow. He'd be perfect for this bullpen. They need a lefty specialist

Lige was brutal last night. Would be nice if he could give them another pen option in the playoffs. Unfortunately, it looks like I will be strapping on a diaper every time he comes in

And it looks like you've been right about Stutes - he's getting tired.

Ryan Garvey (steve's son) scheduled to be in philly for a workout this weekend. Signing deadline is the 15th. Would be huge for their draft class if they can get him on board (he wasn't picked until 15th round due to strong committment to USC).

That's what happens when you use him in the 9th inning of 9-2 games. Ridiculous

I think they are going to bring up schwimmer, defratus, and aumont on 9/1. Cant wait to see all 3 of them

    Nice...keep em coming

•The Phillies have signed seventh-round pick Kenny Giles to a contract with a $250K bonus, reports Baseball America's Jim Callis (Twitter link). Giles, a high-schooler who had committed to the University of Arizona, "has touched 99 mph with his fastball."
