Interstellar & Mission Impossible Fallout yesterday

Shitty weather in New York....watched both again yesterday, both really good...Interstellar might be one of my favorites of all time,  Matthew McConaughey excellent as well as the whole cast. His relationship with his daughter beautiful & heartbreaking at the end

I also watched After Class.  If our newer generation acts like this I think we are doomed.

Had moments where I laughed. The packed theatre I saw it in (mostly women, of all ages) laughed even more.

I was surprised/impressed by how free and punk they were in relations to the license. And how frank they were in the issues they wanted to bring up.

But, watching the movie it felt like I was more watching Greta and Noahs discussions about Barbie and having an essay read to me. It is very talkie, about the points they want to get across with the film - not about points in the drama.

Nothing was real, in a movie-drama sense. The real world in the film was as artificial as Barbies pink plastic (compare that to The Last Action Hero or Elf were non-real characters had to confront reality). No characters had connections. It was all Gerwig's essay being read to me. With a dance sequence thrown in and Will Ferrell on rollerblades.

So, kind of... impressed... but detached. I give it a strong 2 or a weak 3 out of 5.
