We wanted to watch a movie for New Years eve, so we watched Music and Lyrics which, surprisingly, neither of us had yet seen.  Fun movie and the chemistry between Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore was great.  Sweet movie!

Love Dog Soldiers.  Now watch the director’s The Descent. Terrifying.
I’ve seen the Descent. It was pretty good as well. Not sure if he did the sequel to that one too but I kinda liked that one a little more.

A History of Violence New Line Platinum Series Amazonca Movies TV Shows

remember hearing really good things about this. the full frontal scene seemed gratuitous. unless it was to show Edie's "IDGAF" attitude at the time. the domestic violence turning into passionate sex made absolutely no sense. no chance that shit happens in real life. I don't understand why movies keep trying to make it seem like that actually happens.

    it was ok I guess.

Silly story about The Big Short.. the real life guy who Ryan Gosling played was regularly in my Pilates class when I lived in NYC. He’d always kind of half ass the moves until the cool down, then he’d go into beast mode with mountain climbers or something when we’d all be stretching lol. Nice guy though

I have no idea where I am in the MI franchise. I hate getting all geared up with snacks and whatnot only to realize I need to choose another movie

Only need to watch 1 and 3. And then back to 1. And after that 3 again.

I do love Ghost Protocol and onward. 1 and 3 are fantastic. You can skip 2.

I think they turned into "ah, wait Ethan Hunt is just an empty vessel for another stunt" with 4 and onward. That makes them uninteresting to me. In the first he felt like a human being - even with Tom having some difficulty radiating that quality that in many of his roles - and in the third one at least they tried and had him cry. GIVE ME THE RABBITSFOOT

4 and onward it's just "action man" doing "stunts". I find it kind of okey for a cinema trip (like the last one with the train sequence etc) but I would not call them good in their shallowness.

They are definitely spectacle movies and not pretending to be anything else. But they are some pretty impressive action set pieces.

Even with all the VFX addons to the latest Seven release... I'm thinking about going and see it in the cinema... Would rather watch an original 35mm copy from back then... but... hmm... the new George Lucas 4K release might still be worth a trip to the cinema...

Crazy Heart.  This was the only other time I've seen this fine movie since it came out.  It's so good, but it sure does bring up a lot of hurt.  Might be another 15 year till I see it again.
