This hour long documentary, "Everest: The Death Zone" was a great Netflix find from NOVA.
Amazoncom Everest - The Death Zone NOVA VHS Narrated By Jodie Foster Movies TV

“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

I have no idea what I watched. It had the dude from Balls of Fury in it, though.
    I SAW PEARL JAM
  • I think I watched half of that and felt the same way.  Turned it off.
Balls of Fury is way better

I watched that a couple days ago. The girl was good, premise was interesting; the movie itself? Jury’s out.

    What did you think?

Agree.  I'm not a big Brad Pitt fan but thought he did well with this ..and Jonah Hill was great.

It was fine.  I kind of figured out the plot early on, just had a bit of it off.  End of the movie is kind of messed up.  Overall, it was a decent way to spend a Saturday night.

I enjoyed Bombshell. I may never look at John Lithgow the same way again though!

It was pretty fun to watch (way better than the 70s Star Wars Holiday Special!)
We'll definitely end up watching it again

Hmm. To me it came off very much like they had used a Wikipedia-article as the script, and dialogue was kept on such a shallow lever. TEXT AND NOT SUBTEXT-the movie. Felt a bit made-for-tv. And when all the Fox famous personalities had to show up (like when they are all sitting around the same desk in the end)  it came off as a SNL-sketch.

Great makeup on Theron and Lightow though. Kidman looked weird.

Never saw it before, and didn't really care for it. Just took way too long to get going. They could've shaved about a half-hour off of it. I get why people like it, and why it's influential. And it was alright once the alien popped out of the guy's chest. But getting there felt like it took forever. And even some of the suspenseful stuff had a lame payoff. This scene here is a good example. A suspenseful build...for a one-second shot of the alien...

Also wasn't impressed with Sigourney Weaver. Was expecting her to be a total badass in this movie. I'm guessing that stuff happens in the sequel, as I've read it's more action-packed.

Yeah, Alien is the slow build and Aliens is run and gun almost non-stop. Michael Biehn and Weaver kick ass through out, Paul Reiser is a smarmy sleaze ball and then there's Bill Paxton for some dark humor.

It should be interesting. I don't know why, but I always liked this actor. K-9 brings back fond memories of early childhood.
