    WFT no Lucy?!

That was my favorite. And Ethel was my second favorite. Sonofabitch!

I don't know about Octane vs Squizz, but there's no comparison between Liquid Metal and Hard Attack. Liquid Metal is 1000x better the Hard Attack. I'm mostly upset that Octane isn't xL (uncensored), they got rid of the classic rap station on both platforms, and the Sirius DJs talk way more then XM ones ever did.

See, on Lithium, I never heard DJ's at all. Are there DJ's now?

Could it be that actually what has happened here is that XM and Sirius both got shittier after the merger? How is that possible?

I'm hoping all the excess talk from djs we are hearing is just a transitional thing to let people know what is going on with the changes/merger etc. In the past on XM they rarely said anything. They just played music. I was disappointed to see Lucy and Ethyl missing. Hopefully there won't be much difference in the programming on the new ones.

Oh, well then that blows. So you now no longer have any classic hip-hop after the merger?

On that note, I could have sworn last year that Sirius had the NBA. Is that now only available if I buy the best of XM thing???

Yeah they did. I'm not an NBA fan but I remember listening to some playoff games on Sirius last year.

I tried listening to O&A when I had XM in my car and it was painfully funny how much they just copy Stern. Plus I found one of them very annoying as to how they throw their voice to make themself sound laidback but hip. It's funny that Howard went to Sirius and made Sirius become relevant and the dominate player in the takeover; while O&A went to XM and nobody cared.

As a Sirius subscriber, there is no incentive to ever get the best of XM

Yeah the best of XM does not appeal to me at all either.

I do think it is lame to charge for the best of the service you don't have. It's a complete lie based on what Karmizen said before the merger.

This afternoon, they played "Not Enough Time" by INXS. The old Lithium never played that. Help me understand the difference between Lithium and 90s on 9.

On the upside, I like the new Kids Place Live, which replaced Kids Stuff. I have a six year old daughter and Kids Stuff played the same 20-30 songs over and over. There seems to me a little more variety with Kids Place Live.

Local radio is so crappy. Once you have satellite radio, you can't go back to the FM way of life. It's a small price to pay not to listen to boring morning shows and annoying DJs all day long on FM. I'll gladly pay for my Sirius anyday.

they played WWS on lithium. So I guess it's not a 90's alt station anymore?

So I'm sitting here listening to Lithium (giving it another chance) and they played Seal. That's right...Seal!!
WTF is wrong with this station?!?!?! "Classic Alternative Hits" are you fucking kidding me!?!?

    God, this shit is terrible!

Nope, just Seal singing one of his cheesy tunes. Granted, it did come out in the 90's but how it made it onto an "Alternative Rock" station is beyond me.
Seems like it should have been on a Light Hits kind of channel.

    Either way, it is awful!

Now they (Lithium) are playing Tori Amos "Cornflake Girl".

    BRING BACK LUCY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Lithium sucks some serious ass!

This morning I heard "Suck my Kiss" on Lithium and they beeped out the part where he says "motherfucker". I don't think songs were edited before the merger.

Unbelievable. They NEVER would have played that shit before.

Anyone complain yet? This is outrageous.

Or bring back the old Lithium. Please understand, this is not how Lithium used to be.

Yeah, I've now heard that from a few different people who are completely disgusted with the channel.

I have about the same number of friends who had/have Sirius as I do XM. Almost everyone, on both sides, is upset by the new line-ups and channel "changes".

    Ugh!

Yeah meistereder is right. In early 2007, Sirius did a test run (on Octane, I think) where for a weekend they played a bunch of 90s hard rock to gauge whether they should start a channel devoted to it. I guess it went over well so they started Lithium. Since then it was a really good channel, but it really seems to have gone downhill.

For no reason! Sounds like they ended up pissing off both the XM and teh Sirius users. Which is baffling.

Since having a 3 hour daily commute for the past 2 weeks I've got a good listen to the new format and it sucks giant moose balls. I have Sirius and the stations are now crap. The Big 80s and Hair Nation were 2 of my favs and now they are unlistenable. I hear songs I've never heard of in my life on these stations. And Lithium, oh man it blows now. I almost need to thank the FCC for taking so long to decide on the merger. They gave me a few extra months of good Sirius. Now I have shitty Sirius.

Yeah, well we all are the losers in this merger.

I was a happy XM subscriber too. I'm by no means blaming Sirius because I've heard both sides of the merger and nobody is happy.
  • Holy shit, they really ruined things. Somehow all the Sirius stations took over the XM ones. Gone are Lucy, Squizz, Top Tracks, Flight, etc. They're been replaced by the Sirius counterparts Lithium, Octane, Classic Vinyl, The Pulse. It's only been a day but already I've noticed more DJs talking (and talking over song intros to boot), changes in the tone of the stations (Korn on Liquid Metal??) and less uncensored channels. They totally got rid of The Rhyme - classic hip hop which was such a fun channel.

Way to go Mel Karmazin, after ruining FM you finally fulfilled your dream of ruining satellite. I guess as long as Howard Stern is happy, you're happy. Who cares about the 8 million people who chose XM over Sirius probably in part because they don't like Howard.

ha you said sucks balls in your thread title

    i gave up on radio

yeah what is up with lithium....it was my fav channel now they edit lyrics now...for example NIN's "Closer"...."I want to .... you like an animal"....WTF...but i did hear "Love reign o'er me" the other day....which is wierd and cool at the same time...i thought it was a '90's channel...?

I'm pleasantly surprized today. I've been listening to Lithium for the last hour and a half and they've played pretty much all good tunes.

We'll see how long that lasts!

--I'm hoping there were enough people bitching that they went back to their "old ways". We'll see...
  • Lithium has seemed to improve, or at least get back to what it used to be.

I was driving around with my 5 year old daughter last night looking at Christmas lights. We were listening to Radio Disney, and during a commercial break, Sirius threw in an ad for the Playboy Channel. Talk about class.

That's insane! They edit songs on Lithium and now they are advertising Playboy on Disney?!!!

What the fuck is going on over there?
