This is one of the reasons why the US is going to hell in a hand basket, something happens first instict is to sue pisses me off.

Sorry, I know that is a little insensative to what your daughter went through but why sue? You should be looking to have the person who hit her locked up not sued. I mean don't get me wrong yea your daughter was injured and that sucks, do I feel she should have to cover medical costs, absolutely not and the ladies insurance company will take care of her medical bills but anything after that is just looking to cash in on a bad situation and that's just bullshit.

Sorry for what happend and I hope your daughter makes a speedy recovery and the driver of the car gets what she deserves.

but how old are your kids? I'm 35 already and I"m the only one who can give grandbabies, so I think we're both plotzing about it already :D

its' crawling with cops over there! Geesh. Esp. transit cops, right? That's like, it's not the same thing, this is worse but for my 'new york story,' I was purse-napped in broad daylight coming out of the train in the village, and I ran after the guy and I was like "somebody stop that guy!"

nobody did :( I didn't even have money for a metro card to get home and I lost my house keys and my ID

    Animal,

FYI, my first instinct was to get to my daughter's side and hug her because I still had her in my life. While you are certainly entitled to your opinion, I choose to not comment on anything else you have said because until you walk a mile in someone's shoes...so the saying goes. Thank you for the good wishes.

That's horrible. I imagine it leaves you feeling vulnerable. I always keep my cash, cc's and ID in a front pocket - always wearing jeans or pants that have a front pocket - when walking around the city. If my bag got snatched, they could then enjoy putting on my make-up and smoking my cigs.

When I have to get dressed up and the front pocket is not an option, I usually have the hubby by my side, so it's all good. You know, with the economy tanking, certain crimes, like purse-snatching,are on the rise. Sad.

this happened like 10 yrs ago.
I keep my keys and cell phone in my pocket since that happened. Or If I'm out and I have to wear a skirt I just tuck a bag really tight under my arm.

what happened to your daughter is infinitely worse.

.. it's like that syndrome with that woman in the 60's that was screaming for help and nobody did anything? What was her name? Like some people just think, oh someone else will help or something...

I was on my way to work in Bklyn a few weeks ago and I swear to God, this woman was lying in the street and nobody was stopping to help. The only people that stopped were me and a co-worker of mine who was a priest.

and what about that case that was in CT, I think, the woman got run over by a car and was lying in the street and nobody helped?

Kitty Genovese was the woman's name.

Oh, and Allie, you asked the kid's ages: 19, 22 and 23. All girls. My poor husband.

    YES! Oh thanks Ma! :D
Oh wow! That's a lot of females in one house! Whoa! Wow that's nice they are close in age. The older ones have plenty of time to give you grandbabies!
I'm 35 and my brother is 48. But he won't be having kids so it's all on me! LOL :)

wesley autry, yeah. He saved a young man. He jumped on the tracks on top of the guy and held him to stay down while he was having a seizure and the train rolled over both of them

and wesley's two little daughters were on the platform. I think it was last winter?
