    Inside Hockey: Penguins-Flyers preview
    by KEVIN GREENSTEIN, Inside Hockey

A look ahead to the Eastern Conference Finals:

    Forwards

Penguins: Evgeni Malkin was, in a word, magnificent against the New York Rangers in the quarterfinals. An absolute force on the power play, Malkin's laser like shot and ability to bull his way through the Rangers' defense made him the unequivocal difference-maker. If Malkin can continue to play dominating hockey --and if he gets the expected level of support from fellow wunderkind Sidney Crosby -- the Pens should have no trouble generating offense against the Flyers.

Flyers: It was no secret that the Flyers were going to lean heavily on Daniel Briere in these playoffs, and he's certainly delivered (14 points in 12 games). But the key to the Flyers' success has been their depth of scoring, the contributions they've gotten throughout the lineup from their less-heralded forwards. Most notably, R.J. Umberger has seemingly come out of nowhere to score a team-leading nine goals in 12 games (to go along with a stellar plus-six rating). And with the likes of Vaclav Prospal, Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, Mike Knuble, and Scottie Upshall all chipping in with timely goals, the Flyers' offense is impressively deep.

    Advantage: Flyers

Look, I'm not saying that the Pens are light years beyond the Flyers. I give them all the credit for making it this far. But the fact that this guy says that Philly has the advantage for forwards is a bit of a stretch. He only names Crosby and Malkin while mentioning like 7 of the Flyers forwards. Last I checked, the Pens had some guys named Hossa, Sykora, Malone, and Staal (among others) that have contributed to their success.

If he had Philly ahead in defense or goaltending it wouldn't have bothered me, but offense? C'mon...

that would just re-enforce the goon label we have... although if we win the series because of it, I'm all for it :D

They actually called me back (I didn't give them my number by the way) must have used their Caller ID

The bastard was trying to get me to buy Stanley Cup Finals tickets or Season tickets for next year !

He said everything is Sold-Out including the tickets allocated for the Season Ticket purchases as well

wow that sucks... actually what sucks is that the team is actually commercializing and facilitating scalping of their tickets on that ticketmarketpalce site.... I bet there will be tons of tickets being "resold" on there this week.

Funny enough I asked the guy about that "Legalized Scalping"

He said they are allowed to ask for higher prices and "some" season ticket holders have taken advantage of this

I said it shouldn't be allowed

The Eagles have set the same thing up for their 2008 season through Ticketmaster.

Friday cannot get here soon enough.

The Eagles have had a deal with RazorGator for the last few years.... most major sports teams are doing it now, so that they can get a cut of the revenue from the secondary market. I understand the need and want of some season ticket holders to sell tickets for games they can't make but they shouldn't be allowed to sell them for above face or at least no more than 10 to 20% above face value.

I guess he looked at totals for each player and figured the forwards are a plus for us ?

    Briere,Prospal,Knuble,Carter,Richards,Lupul,Hartnell all over 20 goals

Upshall with 14 goals and the Pens Killer Umberger 13 goals

a little over 24 hours to go. i can't wait. let's go Flyers. i have been listenning to the radio here in Toronto and finally they are giving respect to the flyers. today was so funny as the couch of teh leafs was fired yesterday and today on teh readio they were saying that teh Leaf are not going to be a team liek the Flyers because they don't hav ethe talent and teh guts that Philly has to do what is needed.

so far this playoff, teh flyers have not lost a game when i wear my Flyers Jersey. i will be wearing in tomorrow.

I hate to admit it, but I actually lost a bet where I had to drink watermelon martinis with a lady friend of mine a few weeks ago (during the Caps series), and the Flyers won that night. Since then, every time I've been at my favorite watering hole while the Flyers play, I've had a watermelon martini or two, and they haven't lost yet.

Yeah, I'll be drinking them again tomorrow, so if you happen to see a man drinking watermelon martinis, don't judge, I'm just doing my civic duty to the city. :)

hahaha that's great.... no real superstition here, other than watch the game, have a few beers, and enjoy every damn minute. Although I will be wearing my Zubrus jersey to Game 3, after the outstanding Game 4 I got to see against the Caps.

Nice article from Bucci... doesn't pick the Flyers but doesn't discount them either...

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/playoffs2008/columns/story?columnist=buccigross_john&id=3386690

BTW no one from ESPN or TSN is picking the Flyers this round... not even the monkey.
