Yeah it was a nice butt end by Spezza, right in front of the ref, so no surprise on the 5 and a game. I liked the intensity by Biron, he was being bumped and nudged most of the first and decided that Spezza celebrating in front of him was enough.
I think the Flyers need to play with a little chip on their shoulders, keep the intensity level up. And the top line looked good so far, no points but alot of chances and pressure in the offensive zone.

    I agree

Their best hockey when they were fighting and getting suspensions

Obviously they should play aggressive and fight within the rules ;)

How can they allow a guy to be 60 feet on the ice before the line change happens, AND that guy scores a breakaway goal???? It's fucking ridiculous and someone (officials) should be fired or sent to the minors for a few years.

    For those who missed it....

I had to read the description on TSN to figure out what the problem was (it was a four on four...).
NHL officiating has been absolutely awful all week.

Exactly... I can see how at first you miss it because of the 4 on 4 but a few seconds after the goal you have to scratch your head and go how did that happen??? All 8 players were basically in the Sabres zone and then one pass and a guy is in the Flyers zone with the puck and no one near him. I mean there are 4 officials out there, the lineman called a too many men call on the Flyers later in the 3rd but couldn't do it earlier.... it's atrocious. And that goal changed the game.

There was a four on four and all four Sabres were in their defensive zone, and I think the four Flyers were in there as well and one of them (Sabres) was going for a line change (like just deciding it seems) and Roy was already off the bench and at the Flyers' blue line before the guy going off was even 20 feet near the bench.

    Go fuck yourself Lindy

It's a big difference then getting a power play, a power play is much easier to kill off then a guy 10 ft. behind your D and heading in on a breakaway in a tie game !

"Whining and complaining." Sabres coach Lindy Ruff, speaking to reporters yesterday, discussed Flyers coach John Stevens' complaints about Roy's five-on-four goal.

"I realized that Derek had left early," Ruff said. "There was no doubt. We all knew on the bench. The whining and complaining about that is no different than Jason Pominville hitting the glass in our building against Philly and giving them a power-play goal.

"If we're going to go back and whine about [how] the play changed the game, I can whine about the officiating. I can find something to whine about every night. . . .

"I thought we outplayed them in the third period and deserved to win. Did we get a break? Yeah."

Maybe the NHL should shut down for a few days (ala Starbucks) and retrain its officials :D

    WHAT A PUNCH!!!!

the only bad thing is i hear the flyers continously show fights on their scoreboard

and they will show past ones(in which the home team got the decision) when a particular team comes in

now it wouldnt be too kind if msg showed the fedoruk(sp)
disaster from last year everytime the flyers come to town ;)

    however cote dropped him

I think thats why Roy got so mad watching the fight over and over and the Flyers bench ripping on him

We'll be safe....Fedoruk is in Minn now :)

he was that pissed because of how many times they showed it on the big screen,i was there. The punch were he knocked him down was also the check of the game that might have insensed him to melt down status
