If one of my brothers ever called my mom a bitch, she wouldn't have needed one of the other sons to come to the rescue. She would have knocked that mofo out herself and then when Dad got home, he would have done it too. Not saying that is the right approach, but we all turned out to be good people. Well, in my eyes, we are good people. I'm sure many would disagree.
Never had to knock them into the next world, but putting the fear of God into them at an early age sure does help. I just look at them and they assume that I'm capable of anything. I only stand 4 foot 12 inches (need all the inches I can get!)-lol-but they are afraid of me. I never show any emotion or reaction. They know that I have other ways of making them really miserable. I don't forget what they do, either. I'll wait a week to find the right moment. Keep them on their toes and then I stay in control. When they respect me, then I respect them. Little shits. I love them!
I will hold the candle until it burns up my arm. I'll keep taking punches until their will grows tired. I will stare the sun down until my eyes go blind. I won't change direction and I won't change my mind.

Isn't 4' 12", 5'?

I have only read a few posts in this thread, and I am pretty shocked at how unanimously people are recommending a beating.
It is hard to demand respect if respect is not shown in the first place.
Hopefully your mom and brother can put the disrespect aside and sit around the table setting down some rules they can both live with.
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.
LOL...he's totally not into Pearl Jam. I've tried letting him listen to PJ. He did like the Beasties at first but now thinks they're cheesy.
When my mother beat me when I was a kid, it wasn't senseless beating at all. I learned a lot of morals and responsibilities through it. It's really hard for her to raised my young siblings in the U.S. Believe me, if we were back in our native country, we would be at peace.
It's true that things are different in America. Did she have a different support system back home?
Edit: Of course most kids don't recognize their parents support as most parents don't either.

the fear of god?
what god do you worship?
LOL, you are a hard-ass--- holy shit, I will bite my fingers all night.
In all seriousness, in your first post, you mentioned 'controlling'.
Truth is, you can't control someone else, they are gonna do whatever the fuck they wanna do. You can be there for them when they fuck up or you can tell them that you wont' be there for them... don't come home when they fuck up, etc.
Put your money where your mouth is and STICK WITH WHAT YOU SAY!!! Don't whimp out and go back... grow some balls and live yourself.

No wonder PJ doesn't play the south.
My parents put the fear of God into me. It involved taking me to church and raising me with the Love of Jesus in their hearts. I'm sure that's what he/she means.

Yes, she had somewhat of a tough time raising me when I was around 15/16 but a part of me was still humble from our time living in the refugee camp so I always knew my limits to not get too much stress for her.
But my younger brother and sister were born here in the U.S. and they act out regardless. She has contemplated of moving back to her native country b/c we don't have any family here at all. And the only family she has doesn't even respect her.
I help her visit her father and family for the first time since 1975 this past April and that put a huge smile to her face.
I should have my sons read this thread so they know just how lucky they have been to have parents who are raising them with out hitting them or putting the fear of god in them. I can't get over how some of you people think. It makes me really sad for you all. I have really good boys with few problems, who talk to their father and myself with 100% respect. It can be done, my sons are living proof. I love my kids more then anything on this earth...I can't imagine hurting them. I don't hit my dog and I would never hit my child.

Wow, I cannot believe I'm actually reading these responses suggesting that this kid deserves to be physically assaulted because he cursed at his mother.
And what's more is that the reasoning over and over again is basically because "it's what would've happened to me."
LOL. That just means that you still don't understand why it's wrong to insult the people that we love.
Sure, a beating might stop the name-calling, but this kid will not understand the importance of considering other peoples' feelings. He'll only understand that respect is based on fear.
"Why did you stop calling your mother a bitch? Is it because you realized that you love her and you didn't want to hurt her feelings? Did you realize that sometimes when we get angry, we say things we don't mean?"
"No, it's because I was afraid of being physically assaulted."
Wow, real good lesson being taught there. What happened to "let's make the world a better place"?
....and here we are laughing at the muslims because they go ape-shit over muhammed cartoons.....meanwhile we advocate beating children because they use the "B" word.
There is no difference.
Then again, how is a 14 year old who already knows everything who dosen't respect his mother going to understand logic anyway? Teenagers are irrational by nature because that is the age they are trying to claim more freedom and parental seperation.... it is indeed a conundrum. What do you do send them too their room lock it and give them a time out? It's for his own good his mother is asking those things... but he's not mature enough to know that yet.
Is he going to accept the answer... that this is for his own good and he'll find out later? I guess locking him inside the house is the only real option. You're more of a consultant by 14 anyway the rest they learn from their peers.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.
