It's 10 years now since the UK release. What bothered me was all the nearby vessels that weren't disturbed whatsoever when the Titanic finally went down, surely the suction pull would have been immense. That and the unlikelyhood of the poor irish boy getting in with the gentry. It can all be overlooked I suppose, don't wanna be pedantic.......

A night to remember was WAY better :o they copied all the best scenes directly from that and pasted it into colour and then added a stupid love story... which was completely unnecessary... the story itself is amazing without needing to add all that crap.

'I'll never let go Jack' as she pries his hands from the wood and shoves him into the freezing water  Pah!

So, what you wanted Jeanie, they call it a documentary I believe ;) For me, I enjoyed everything about the movie, the ham, the sham, the wham bam thank you mam, and of course.... Kate's hooters : D

A bit like Kirsten hey? ;):p

No, it didn't have to be a doco, I just found the romantic story line highly contrived and not doing justice to the rest of the film. :)

And I have no problem with the young fellas in film but Leo, I dunno he's too pastey faced or somethin??? Just doesn't do it for me.

I'd rather look at Kate's hooters than him, not that she didn't spend the entire film shitting me to tears with her whiney crap!!! :p
    NOPE!!!

I agree Hels. Night to Remember was a much better film and if that silly biatch had got on the goddam life raft and stayed there he wouldn't have died. The whole thing pissed me off!! Dumbest love story ever!!!

I thought A Night to Remember was better as well, and frankly much more scary. Another vote for contrived love story, and what a cliche one at that. Poor boy dies for love. I also can't stand the song either. It is like one of those old phone commercials that you have an emotional reaction to but feel dirty afterwards. Like you let yourself be seduced by something skanky.

I really loved him in Gangs of New York. Daniel Day Lewis as well. I thought they were great together. Also, Daniel Day Lewis delivers one of the best movies lines ever in Last of the Mohicans:

"Stay alive, I will come for you!!!"

Now that was a love story.

Let's simmer down everyone...it was just a thread about a movie.
    ;)

My peeve with the production of the movie is the thousands of historic costumes that were destroyed. Truly, they emptied out the costume houses.

    I love the Celine song.
    I love Leo.
    I love Kate.
    I love San Dimas.

Jeanie, I would have still climbed out. :p

HaHa! That made me laugh. Kids would bring that song to my wife, so she could teach them it on the piano. After the kids left, I would have to put Motorhead on to purge that sound from my brain.

:D I must admit I'm very lucky to have performed in a spoof of it at the local theatre and it sits a whole lot better with me now if I remember our version of it! Otherwise it gets switched off pronto around here!! Actually having to hear the kiddies attempting to master it would be even more torturous so you have my complete sympathy but mostly it's Celine I can't tolerate! Yeah, perhaps if they'd drowned her and Leo together? :D

Oh and I agree, he was excellent in Gangs Of New York. :)

imagine my pleasant surprise when for 3 hours a couple of years ago, the boy(who has never sat still for more than a minute since he was a bambino watching tellytubbies) sat and watched the entire movie without a peep.
admittedly it was more about the ship for him than anything else. he is still ship obsessed. :)

pfft  twas yet another example of how the upper classes keep the lower classes down. poncing around in all their splendour, defying God(the insinkable ship) and then having to abandon their opulence in order to survive. i mean my God how gracious of Rose to even deign to speak to Jack, not to mention shag him in a car and risk her life for love. how 'amusing' her slumming was. *yawn*

Yea, you are probably right. I haven't seen the film in a while. I do think the film addresses the class/racial conflicts underlying the story. Nobody comes out of that story unscathed.
