I agree on Danskos - they are so comfortable - I have some on now. The only drawback is you can't run in them, but you can walk very fast. Ryka sneakers are made for womens feet - narrow at the heel and wide in the forefoot, and I've worn Rykaks since 1998 for teaching aerobics. As a former dancer and current aerobic instructor I don't have the best feet, so its basically boots, sneakers, danskos and teva sandals for any occasion.

    The best feeling ever?

Putting on a pair of well worked in sneakers after a day of downhill skiing.

    omg...a 10 minute foot orgasm...no kidding.
I agree. Best part of skiing is taking off your boots and getting into a nice pair of shoes.

PS I could never go commando in a pair of jeans...

Yep, oh yep, I generally stick to hiking boots... or if I need something dressy Clarks... ya can get nice stuff in there the odd time. it really IS worth it to spend out on super comfy shoes. I've had enough blisters and stuff in my day to no better. I've walked barefoot on a night out through Temple Bar for fuck sake cos it was more comfortable than wearing the shoes I had on  THAT was the night I learned my shoe lesson :) . I really don't care what they look like... I'm going for comfort before ANYTHING else :)

  • I still have to say my uggs are the most comfy shoes I have ever owned.

When I was in high school I was in marching band, and we had to dress up to do the Halloween parade. I wore these awesome red doc martin boots that I had bought in London because I was dressed as the devil. I'll tell you, my heels started to kill the moment we started walking, but being in a big parade in a marching band, doesn't allow you to stop. So I walked for 3 miles. I had tears in my eyes, it was so horrible. When we finished I pulled my feet out and my socks were soaked in blood, and I had NO heel what so ever. It was so deeply blistered and cut and bleeding so badly, I had to go to the hospital.

    WORST SHOES EVER.

 yep, when I think of docs, I think of breaking them in  . Sure they're fantastically comfortable after a couple of months of cutting the ankles off yourself. I'd a pair of green doc boots when I was a teenager... and lived in them :D but the first while was pretty painful.

When I went to the States I had és shoes, I think, skate shoes anyway and the were comfy the first week or so but after two weeks my feet hurt as hell, and my knee started hurting again.

I went with these North Face hiking shoes (they're not boots, they call it day hiking shoes or something) to the Czech republic and the difference was huge. I wear them daily, they're so easy and light and comfortable, they look ok too, I guess but I never cared much about that anyway.

I want to go hiking in the Swiss Alps in the summer so I'll have to buy good hiking boots.
    THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

well when I went to the states, I always travel light so I wanted ONE pair of sandals that I could wear out at night, wear with shorts or walk for miles and miles in... got a pair in Clarks and they were fantastic. For the first few days, I just kept thinking 'I can't believe how great my feet feel' :D I still love them... they're my favourite pair of footwear :)

clarks are very nice as well. a bit narrow for my toes. I think a pair of clarks flats I bought to be very comfy versitile shoes has actually contributed to my toe pain.

my mum calls them thongs too! (and she's american!) actually sometimes she gets confused and calls them "tongs." I'm like no mum, tongs are what you pick up chicken off the grill with, you mean "thongs" but in this century "thongs" go between your butt cheeks and "flipflops" go between your toes...

The most comfortable shoes I own are a pair of Danner Fort Lewis boots. They are kind of a pain to lace up, but the ankle support and foot bed are great. I add a pair of Danner Airthotic arch supports because of my high arches... best footwear, ever.
    ...
wear shoes for comfort and support... not fashion.

I've not owned a pair of trainers - sneakers - in 20 years, that is until two weeks ago when I bought a pair of black Addidas. I've always been a shoe man - brogues being my faves. I used to wear steel toe-capped brogues. They were great. I used to get turned away from some bars and clubs though as the doorman told me I could do too much damage to someone with them if I got into a fight.

Something like these babies, but mine were snazzier and shinier...
