If you have a massive skin break out (and I mean massive), do you think it's better to attempt to cover it with make up or just not even bother cuz everyone will know anyway?

    best advice for this, imo:

get thee to a sephora and buy the correct shade of bare minerals foundation along with the brush and you'll not only be able to cover them really well (seriously, i kid you not) BUT your skin will CLEAR UP just by using the stuff. it totally worked for me. i was very skeptical but a friend whose skin always looked nice told me about it a few years ago and i tried it. i never went back to regular makeup or concealers (just undereye stuff, since that area tends to be drier and powder is a no-no there).

i know, i oughta be on their payroll. :o

As to makeup with breakouts, if you are careful with your choice of makeup, a little will probably tone down the appearance of the redness. And put something on your eyes to take the focus off the breakouts. That being said, since I became vegan in June of last year, and I think I have had maybe one zit since then. I swear your skin clears up when you lay off the dairy. Food for thought for the future anyway.

yeah my skin problems are due to the fact that I'm hairy- I have foliculitus. I break out because if you know, the hair gets moved around the folicule gets infected. I usually don't break out AS badly as I am right now- that was due to getting shaved before my laser treatment.

and I've been swayed too much toward the anti belly fat benefits of the CLA found in milk to give up dairy :).

It's notoriously unhealthy for outbreaks to be covered up. I would do it only if it's a special occasion and you want to do everything you can to not look horrible. Usually covering it up does make it better. Then again I have never had massive ones :)
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.
  • no no don t cover it
    it n be worst
and if it is not getting any better i would go to the ? (hautarzt)

thanks for the history lesson but i did not require it :p

i was merely saying that if society (from back whenever.. i care not a jot) hadnt promoted the use of make up then it wouldnt be an issue... if we were all as nature intended then thats whats we truly are.. clothes are for heat purposes only.. but you knew that ;)

it was simply to illustrate my point, not to 'educate' you...figured you and most already knew, more for illustrative purposes.

and yes, completely true. point is, humanity HAS always chosen to adorn themselves in some form, so must be some sort of inbred desire, whatever, point is...you can accept it, or reject it...no one says otherwise.

funny thing tho, everytime i hear/read a guy says how much he loves/adores the *natural* look, when it comes to choosing the most beautiful/sexy woman, inevitably the woman, and pic he chooses to illustrate his choice...the woman is wearing PLENTY of make-up, so whatever. :p

i think brain of j.lo already said it. i don't wear make-up for you or any other man, i wear it for ME. i like how i look with some make-up, *I* appreciate it, makes me feel good, etc. and actually, my husband is one of those rare men who admits that he LIKES some make-up...but also tells me how beautiful i am with or without it. basically, if done well...it just accentuates your positives, and it's fun! also can be quite sexy. ;)

i also don't think of make-up, it's use or lack there of...is an *issue*...i think it's a personal choice, and all good, whatever one chooses.
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...

I am myself like you somehow

  • I'll just raise my hand as one of few females who doesn't have any sort of concealer. I have face wash, medicated moisturizer (Lac-Hydrin), hydrogen peroxide, hydrocortisone, and polysporin.

I always look like crap, and since society is going to generally discriminate against me because I look like crap, I pretty much feel it's my duty to shove my crapness right back at them.

GTD - Go out if your insides tell you to go out, don't let your surface area dictate this. It took a long time for me to be okay with it, and the experiences I've had out with friends, etc., are worth it.

On a random note, I find it odd that make-up wearing women actively pursue a naturally male attribute - long eyelashes.
  • I was joking about the feminist thing.. But regardless, is that not a feminist view? Beauty is not only skin deep? Is that not feminist? Do all women think that make up is essential for a woman to be beautiful? I ask you again... who's been brainwashing you?
I happen to agree with you on the make up thing. I DO wear it the odd time, maybe once a year, if I'm getting REALLY dressed up... simply cos I don't see the point in putting on a cocktail dress if I'm not gonna go all out... and in THAT case it's definitely fun :)

HOWEVER, I don't see the fun in trying to apply mascara on the bus at 7am... or in having to do your makeup before you can even go to the shop... or in simply covering up all day every day. I'm fortunate enough to have pretty good skin though so I feel I look better without anyway.

dont cover.... looks worse... get proactive!

and to the make up thing... God it sucks when your treated better cause you have makeup on...not just by men but women too.

My new question is what happens if you wear makeup and you look like clown? Do you get treated better or worse lol?
