Barely had a chance to watch, but Massa was impressive.

Fisichella: "Bourdais and some of the other drivers put up the wall, it was not my fault." So Giancarlo ran into Nakajima, who was many car lengths in front, because the entire pack slowed down on the turn and didn't get out of his way. Ok!

Wasn't the most exciting race. Massa maintained a good pace, Lewis had a lighter car the entire time and was on Massa's rear the entire time (daring pass at one point too) and Kimi woke up with 5 laps left.
Kovalainin had some bad luck at the start (punctured tire) but his moving through the field provided some neat passing. His pit stops screwed him though, he had gotten himself back into the points but had, by requirement, to pit to put the softs on.

    Thanks for the recap.
I saw that, scary. Fissy came in way to hot from what I saw.
Yeah I saw hamilton pass, then I came back and Massa was running away.

That was about all I saw, but it sounds like just enough.

The rest was pretty much just keeping pace.
Kimi turned it on with 5 laps left but Lewis kept ahead, and Lewis couldn't catch Massa after his last pit.
LH went for a 3 stop strategy so his car was lighter all day and apparently the Mclaren's aren't too hot on softs.

Hey GR, there's a GT3 Porsche Cup race (2 30 minute races I believe) on the track on Sunday the 8th. I believe it's included with the Grand Prix tix we have, but can't find definite information about it. The GT3 site just directs you to the F1 Grand Prix tix site...

    Hey Rygar

Same circuit? After the GP? Pretty sure I will be heading back into town after the GP. Im going to see nels cline at La Sala Rossa Sunday night and will want to chill after the race, most likely.

Relaxing is good. 100,000 people in such a small space is going to create some congestion. I hope the GT3 is shortly after the F1 race so I don't have to get up other than to stretch, hehehe!
    It's the same circuit, yup.
I don't know if it is before or after the race (the race is at 1:30 or something and the track is open at 7:30 am so who knows).

Well if it makes sense to hang for an hour or so after the GP due to the crowds, then that might be a good call.

Still waiting for the program to be up on the site. They say it goes up a few weeks (um...) before the race, so hopefully we get everything figured out soon.
We're in for a 2 km walk to the grandstands, by the way.

I lover racing, but don't follow F1 after the Indy debacle several years ago.

My question is, was Juan Montoya going to get fired before he switched to Nascar??? I can't imagine anyone leaving a series in which you ride in the most sophisticated cars in the world (on road tracks!) to join the dull Nascar parade. Any insight would be appreciated.

    16 days!!!!
    Weather is looking damn fine!
I emailed the Puma store on Ste-Catherine's West and they have lots of ferrari gear (so they say).
Monaco will be semi-boring I think. 80% of the pack will be out on the first lap, and the last 6 cars will never make a pass unless someone is pitting...

    What Indy debacle?
I dunno why JP left for Nascar...I don't think he was getting the can from Mclaren, but even if he was he could have got on with another team in F1 I would imagine.

What Indy debacle?? How about the one when only six cars raced! It basically killed F1 in America and disgraced the most sacred race track in the world.

"The event was marred in 2005 when 14 of the 20 drivers pulled off the track just before the start over concerns about the safety of the Michelin tires used by seven teams. Afterward, Tony George (Speedway Owner) refused to wave the checkered flag or join Michael Schumacher in the winner's circle."

Sorry, not attacking you. It just pissed me off that the politics of F1 prevented a real race and basically killed F1 for the US. Also, Ferrari could have helped avoid this if they would have agreed to let them add a chicane at the strait-away. Hopefully the MotoGP bikes will take hold this fall.

    Oh, THAT Indy debacle.
You said Indy and I thought Indy.

Yeah that was horrible. At least Ferrari won ;)

US is back in the schedule next year, I believe.

one of the worst decisions ever made. Probabaly cost them billions in the US.

Yeah, but you gotta love the street circuit!

I caught the practice this morning. Still a very cool circuit and setting.

Just pray for no rain and all will be well.
We gotta hook up at some point.

Montoya said that he would have more fun in Nascar, less pressure. unlike F1.

I think he wanted to be famous in the US and thought that as a decent F1 driver he would do really well in NASCAR-which so far he is.

also I love seeing these F1 cars with no TC, i'm also kinda surprised to see kimi doing so well without it.
