Who should be the villian in the next Batman movie and who should play the role?

My choice:

Villian: The Riddler

Actor: Johnny Depp

Why?:
-He's a good actor, could share the screen with Bale, Oldman, etc. and not seem out of place.
-He fits the body type, dark hair, not too buff but not too wimpy looking.
-I think he would like to play a bad guy, Sweeney Todd was a step in the right direction, but I'd like to see him be really cold and calculating.
-He is a box office draw. Women like him, guys dig him. But, I don't think the producers are worried about loosing any money with these movies.

So that's what I think. Any picks of your own?

Danny Devito should recreate the Penguin in the next episode.

    Harley Quiin

    Real Name: Harleen Quinzel
    First Appearance: Batman: Harley Quinn
Insane Twist: She was the Joker's psychologist, but Joker managed to turn her into an insane groupie devoted to the Clown Prince of Crime.
Crowning Moment: Rejected by Joker, Harley arrived on Poison Ivy's doorstep intent on getting revenge -- what she gets is a major physical upgrade.
Harley could be even higher on this list were it not for her dependence on a certain Clown Prince of Crime. Always beholden to Joker, Harley's true power can never really be released on Gotham (maybe that's a good thing). She's deadly -- perhaps even deadlier than the Joker -- and completely bonkers. Unlike the other villains in Batman's Rogues Gallery, Harley is actually kind of just a little bit loveable. Sorta.

I haven't really thought of any myself but I agree with you on the Depp front. Depp would be awesome as The Riddler IMO, perfectly cold, intelligent and calculating enough to be scary for Nolan's series of dark films. I also don't think the producers would lose any money with a big name like Depp... afterall, when was the last time you saw him in anything crap?! :o

Good villain, but who'd play her? You'd have to get someone really good to pull off Harley's psychotic but slightly cheeky, lovable character... the aspects of her personality are such opposite end's of the spectrum... they're just all rolled into one compact little jestress!

I would say link the Harley Quinn character to Jokers death or dissapearance or whatever and she kinda carries the torch for him

Awesome, I clicked this thread wanting to write Johnny Depp as the Riddler.

I think riddles and shit can be lame, but if they have the Riddler talking like V from V for Vendetta, with crazy sophisticated, philosophical language, it could be amazing.

I also think having more than 1 villian is a must, and Harley Quinn would be perfect to tie in the Joker (since Heath Ledger tragically died)... I was actually thinking Helena Bonham Carter as her, but Rose McGowan I think would also be good.

Please, please, please no Catwoman, and I do remember Chris Nolan saying he doesn't like the Penguin.

Killer Croc, Mad Hatter, or Bane could be underlings working for one of the two villians I mentioned above...

It would only make sense if theyre going for continuity. Bring in Quinn as a former phsycholgist/phsychiatrist of his with the interest/desire to continue his work after tragedy befalls her somehow. Helena Bonham Carter would also look good in that role! good shit! ;)

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, I respect yours :) but here's mine. I think David Tennant is awful in everything... He always just plays David Tennant. Don't get me wrong, I think he's great at being David Tennant, but he shouldn't play dark characters like appear in Batman and he certainly shouldn't tackle anything above his station... I'm only saying THAT because my Mum and twin have tickets to see him next week in Hamlet... Oh dear indeed

Hmm... HBC... That could work. She certainly has the quirkiness and sinister edge required and she is afterall, a rather intelligent lady... You did good once again, Stickboysan... ;)

Exactly, mixed with the coldness that Sian-of-the-dead was describing would be a cool way to go with the character.
Depp should also have some scruff, or five o'clock shadow goin' on. Dirty him up a bit. Make sure he's not too "pretty".

On a slightly different note, I don't care what role he'd play I would love to see Steve Buscemi in anything.

    Absolutely! It's a damn good movie! :D
See, when I think of The Riddler, I do think more of a Raul Duke kinda character (obviously minus the drugs... but with the psychosis they can bring...) with a smidgen of Sweeney Todd's coldness and Jack Sparrow's grasp of English in there... as apposed to Jim Carrey. He was too comedic and definately not sinister enough. I think if Depp really pulled out the stops, we'd have one hell of a Riddler on our hands :D

Y'all know what i'm getting at? Tell me if i'm rambling...

Given what Nolan and more so Ledger did with the Joker, it is going to be really hard to play another villain. The third one is going to have way to much to live up to. I agree that it would be cool to see where the Nolan brothers would go with the Riddler.

Bane (not the comic version, not bat back breaking, unless they want to bring Azrael in, that would be cool, but only if they keep up the quality of th movie like the first two) or Harley Quinn, though she wasn't in the dark knight, she could try to avenge joker,

Riddler would be cool if they played him dark also.
