Corduroyboy wrote:Exactly my point with putting this thread up. The girl who has been waited on hand and foot is going to a 3rd world country to assess the problems there and use her celebrity to put a spotlight on the place. She has not a fucking clue as to how these people live, what their problems are, and how to solve them. I'm sure someone will give her a brief rundown of the situation in Rwanda as she flies there on her private jet eating only the finest of foods and having her feet messaged by the wait staff. Oh but she's going to cure Rwanda's problems.
But you know what? People do change and grow as they go through life. I have no idea what her reasoning for going there is. I can make assumptions, and you can make assumptions...but the only person who knows the truth is her.
And if you'll look at my original post in this thread, you'll see that I don't care either way. Whatever her intention is, if there is some goodwill happening...at least it is happening. That's what matters.
I don't agree with idol worship, but good things can come out of it. If some kid happens who happens to idolize her learns something because of Paris taking this trip, that's still a good thing...regardless of Paris' intention.0

i think she's more of a tease than an actual slut. at least that's the way i see it. i thought she might be a slut too when i heard about the porno but after watching it...nahh. actually it's one of the worst pornos i ever seen.Brain of J.Lo wrote:That's a lot of guys to envy!

In some ways she is right. People watch her. They read and listen to news reports about her. She is a celebrity regardless of her reputation. So if she has the power to bring about attention to the area, even if at the same time to herself, then great. The media still covers it. The message still gets sent. It's kinda like a car wreck. People are gonna look.Corduroyboy wrote:Just what we needed, this fucking idiot to highlight global issues! Her quote in this story is so deep. If she goes, it will bring more attention to the issues. No you moron, you are just trying to bring more attention to yourself. As you always do. Pompous ass!

Paris Hilton arrives at the amfAR Rocks benefit for AIDS research in New York City on Monday. (The Associated Press)First stop on Paris Hilton's postjail goodwill tour — Rwanda.
The hotel heiress said she will visit the African country this fall as part of her commitment to use her celebrity to highlight global causes, E! Online reported Tuesday.
"There's so much need in that area, and I feel like if I go, it will bring more attention to what people can do to help," Hilton said.
Scott Lazerson of Playing for Good, an organization that helps high-end business and entertainment personalities become involved in charities, originally invited Hilton to Rwanda — scene of a 1994 genocide in which thousands of Tutsis were slaughtered.
Hilton said her journey to Rwanda will not be her last visit to other countries."When you're climbing to the top, you'd better know the way back down" MSB0

i dunno, i'm no fan of paris hilton, but she IS famous (for WHAT, i'm not sure, but i digress...), so if her going there shines a spotlight on their troubles and makes people sit up and take notice, then i say, "you go girl!" and maybe she'll learn a thing or two in the process."Ladies and gentlemen, the President of the United States, Barack Obama."

            Civic involvement
In November 2004, Hilton participated in Sean "Diddy" Combs' Citizen Change campaign "Vote or Die" to encourage youths to vote in the presidential election. She drew criticism after it was revealed she had neither voted nor registered to do so. [43]
I'll just sit and wait to watch the trainwreck happen in Rwanda.0

I kinda agree. These girls like Paris, Britney and Lindsay are all products of their environment. They were ruined by the people around them. Sure they all have the potential to change and rise above their tatered reputations, but will they? That is a hard feat to accomplish. The public isn't very forgiving or forgetting.somebodyelse'ssky wrote:i'm dead serious. she's not trash she's just a good girl that got caught up with the wrong people. she's gonna change wait and see."When you're climbing to the top, you'd better know the way back down" MSB0

sorry, but i do have to say that i think she's hideous looking. seriously."Ladies and gentlemen, the President of the United States, Barack Obama."

I heard of this...sounds ok to me. If more people talk about Rwanda cause that air head went there then so be it. She is hot and many a Rwandan boy (..and girl) will be thinking about her in years to come.>>>>

Not a goddam thing. She's going to shine it on, we will see clips of her there with some poor kids in the shanty towns. She'll tell us how we can help. Trust me, it's not going to be a multi million dollar telethon.0

The media builds these people up just so they can tear them down later. There is money to be made in both directions. A cottage industry has been created by the idea of "celebrity scandals". Just look how many new entertainment shows/blogs/magazines have popped up over the past couple of years.
 It's sick.0
