You know if they are pushing you into a corner whereby it is so awful, you may have grounds to sue them anyway. I forget what the technical term for it is.......

Having worked in a supervisory/administrative position for a number of not for profits here in the US I can say that they are (here at least) incredibly afraid of discrimination lawsuits. They will let some of the worst employees stay because they are worried they are going to bring discrimination suits against them.

Hopefully you have been able to document some of the bullshit that has taken place.

Either way. Hang tight and good luck and know that it will always get better.

Now go listen to Present Tense please.

I just wish they'd fire me. They finished the meeting without firing me, and I wish they'd had the fucking backbone to do so. I know why they didn't though; they didn't because if they had done, I'd have had grounds to go back and get them punished for it.

why dont you have the backbone to quit then mark. if the situation is so untenable, then take matters into your own hands, take responsibliity for yourself and resign. :)

I'm not sure I can truly recommend the following course of action to someone across the pond, but in America, when we have problems with our employers, or co-workers, we arm ourselves to the teeth and go shoot up the place...

    No big deal.

Or, we pick up the new Black Crowes and rock the fuck out.

That would be funny if it wasn't so true! Feel like going postal anyone?

I personally would NEVER quit a job until having another one. If you think you are stressed now, imagine what it could be like 6 months from now w/no job? My friend did this 2 years ago - she worked at JP Morgan, made a great salary and just had it - so she quit. 2 years later still doing odd jobs like waitressing, hosting, working at MACYS. She has borrowed from her 401k account and owes HUGE tax penalties, her credit cards are maxed out, she cannot pay her rent, and at the age of 35 may have to move back in with her parents. All b/c she thought she'd be happier had she quit.
2 years later she is on the verge of a breakdown.

Take ONE day at a time. Get your CV together - interview as much as possible. After all it is only a job - do not let these people get the best of you. Go in, do your work and leave. Do the best you can while you are there.

And a word of recommendation - NEVER cry in front of your boss or co-workers.
