    If I remember right, Lou Merloni was the first to report that the Sox offered Mookie around 10/$300 MIL.  He basically got the same contract he  signed  with the LAD( 12/$365) and he was only in LA for about 5 minutes. 

    The Red Sox tried to sign him a couple of times BEFORE he was a Free Agent but Mookie just wanted to go year-by-year and never wanted to talk long term contract.

    Bottom Line: Mookie Betts didn't want to be in Boston.

    Not according to Mookie but I can’t blame him, either. Who wouldn’t trade crap ass winters, Dunkin’ and the Wahlbergs for movie stars and swimming pools? I blame ownership for going cheap after being met with success.

    I know people don’t believe it, but I wanted to stay in Boston my whole career,” Betts said. “That was my life. I knew everybody there. It was a short flight to Nashville. It was perfect.”

    “It was actually kind of a blessing in disguise. My family loves it. It’s a different way of life. The weather is beautiful,” Betts said. “You never have to worry about the hot sticky stuff or the freezing cold and everything up in Boston. Being in L.A. has been awesome. I’m really happy.”

    Mookie one time may have wanted to stay in Boston, but things changed before his last season here... someone in the know told me that year that there was no way in hell he was going to re-sign... & I don't blame him. I've been out on this ownership ever since the Francona & Lester departures. 

    I wish Henry would sell the team, but I don't see it happening.

    Mookie's actions led me to believe he didn't want to be in Boston. He wanted to be in LA.

    Like I said: He was in LA for 5 minutes when he signed a contract that was comparable to what Boston offered.

    I went to the game 7 in the stands, the last playoff game I attended before started covering these games. I remember staying around to watch the Red Sox celebrate because of the historic nature of what they achieved and from that perspective you can appreciate the history, though make sure Kevin Brown gets his World Series share since he was so cooked and helped the cause in Game 7.
