epic main event. it's incredible that jon fitch made it through that fight. i thought it was over in the first. great heart and determination by jon. it could be safe to say that georges may have finished the fight had it been someone else. great performance by georges, and a good display of respect from both guys at the end.
great ending to a good show!
+1. you know i love the kneeling in the middle of the ring...
i'm am wiped!! must sleep. thanks for yet another fun UFC night....
night guys!

at the end of the first round, he was playing to the crowd while they were chanting "brock"...that's not SO bad, but as heath got up, brock shoved him from behind after dominating the round. then at the end, he started to celebrate with a few seconds left, almost fell on his ass, and then taunted heath, it was wierd.
aww don't do that sh*t brock!!! that's the kind of stuff that's going to get you hurt in this sport. I don't mind the playing to the crowd cause that's entertaining, but to push another fighter to the ground and celebrate before the fight is over is complete disrespect and not something that this sport needs. i guess he still has a way to go to mature into the sport

nice work, leafs! holy pie that is a fine score! kickin' ass with the bonuses!
thanks man, what a way to end the weekend lol. seriously though, i didn't think eddie could be topped thursday night and then i saw radiohead friday night and didn't think that could be topped and then they went on tonight and blew everything away i have ever seen in my life. I was litterally 10 feet away from johnny tonight. Absolutely incredible

yeah, he should learn some composure with time, i hope. no need to attempt to humiliate a guy you're soundly defeating.

that's awesome! good on ya for a good weekend, leafs. when you're able to watch this show it will be a like a little leftover dessert. a nice capper to what sounds like good times for you.
ceg, i'm also wiped after that show and being so engrossed in the fights. still feel kind of stunned that huerta lost. seemed like a weird thing in that fight when they would exchange close they seemed to both be off on their timing or something.
looks like georges and bj aren't heading to montreal, unfortunately. it does look like bj is happy to be getting back to the muffins, though.
i'm guessing that the second montreal show won't take place until next year, as i seem to remember reading that the habs would only be off on dec. 27th, leaving the ufc with no other open dates for the bell centre. we shall see...
ST. PIERRE VS PENN MEGAFIGHT NEXT ON TAP
Monday, August 11, 2008
by Damon Martin - MMAWeekly.com
The life of a champion comes with many challenges including a seemingly never-ending list of opponents. It appears Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight kingpin Georges St. Pierre already has his next challenger laying in wait for him.
Following an exciting night of fights at UFC 87, company president Dana White confirmed to the media in attendance that current lightweight champion B.J. Penn would move back up to 170 pounds to face St. Pierre, with most speculation landing the bout on the UFC’s big year-end event in late December.
“They both really want that fight, they both want to fight each other,” said White during the UFC 87 post-fight press conference. “I’m going to let that fight happen and then I’ll figure out what we’re going to do at 155.”
White said “definitely” that St. Pierre’s next challenge would come from Penn, but despite rumors circling that the fight could take place in the champion’s hometown of Montreal, White responded, “probably not.”
St. Pierre, who adamantly stated that he would not duck any deserving challenger, seemed more than content to put his welterweight championship on the line with Penn.
“I want to be a real champion, I want to be the best in the world,” St. Pierre stated. “And to be the best in the world you need to fight the best in the world and I want to give a shot to everybody that deserves it. B.J. Penn deserves it, he’s an incredible fighter.”
Penn was said to be seen in the crowd at UFC 87 cheering on St. Pierre during his title defense against Jon Fitch. St. Pierre currently holds a win over Penn in 2006 via split decision.
St. Pierre mentioned during the press conference that many fighters, including Thiago Alves and EliteXC welterweight champion Jake Shields, as challengers that have also called him out recently, but Penn will get the next crack at the title.
“This is a big fight and they both want it and I think everybody wants to see it,” said UFC president Dana White about the upcoming bout between St. Pierre and Penn.
He kicked Heath Herring's ass and let him know about it. It was def immature but I think he still thinks he's a bad guy in the wwe.
But he looks like in the next year or two he won't be able to be stopped in MMA. The punch he though that flipped Herring over was the strike of the night.

LMAO.... i giggled a little when that happened....
he litterally knocked him 'ass over tea kettle'!
~~*~~ ...i surfaced and all of my being was enlightend... ~~*~~
the question is.... WHO will be fighting in Montreal...... and WHEN!?!?
inquiring minds want to know!
i'm sure we'll hear about three tentative dates this time...i think it was about thirty or so last time!
...but it turned out to be well worth the wait. it's too bad that the 90 card is happning in illinois. i'd take that one for montreal! tons of great matches there, and anderson vs. patrick as the headliner.
