ps. i saw a guy in a pick-up truck the other day, who looked just like Gray!
Unfortunately no patients means I'm stuck here doing nothing for the next 20 hours.
mmm Gray!0 -
Perhaps UFC may eventually come to Nashville . . . Tennessee has just formed a state Athletic Commission to govern mma events. Dana White in Nashville?!0

indeed!i remember reading an interview with him or watching an interview..
...where he was talking about new states that had added legislation and tennessee was one of the places he mentioned.
i wouldn't be surprised...:)0 -
pre-lims are underway in london!
no spoilers, though!
just wanted to take a moment to re-iterate how much i appreciate having this oasis to come here and discuss mma with so many reasonable friends. i have been trying to find an exlanation as to why thiago alves wasn't given an hour to cut the additional three pounds that he was over when he initially weighed in. i'm not sure if alves' camp decided he couldn't drop it, or if he wasn't given the option.
either way, i have read so many "i used to be an alves fan, but now i hope hughes beats his ass", "i hope hughes murders him", "his fat ass should be fired", "never allowed to fight again", etc.
seems to me to be the same kind of people who were sending death threats to travis lutter. i have to think it's just kids who may have seen thiago fight once against karo, or...?...i don't know what...?
it just seems incredibly fickle to call oneself a "fan", and then hope that person gets injured or beaten simply because they weighed a few more pounds than they were supposed to. hughes and alves should be about the same weight for the match, and i realize it's considered unprofessional to miss weight, but one would think a little disappointment for thiago might be in order rather than outright hate.
now, i can see if thago had stolen matt's country breakfastwhy people would be outraged, but in the grand scheme of things...3 lbs. ?!
anyway, long story longer, nice to have this group to chat with. while we don't always agree, nor should we, at least we talk about things in a reasonable manner!many thanks, my friends!

I was gonna try to wait until tonight to find out the results , but I couldn't.
I'm like a kid on Christmas who can't wait to open the gifts. I won't ruin it and post any spoliers however, because no one else is on to chat with yet.
Looks like a good card so far.0 -
I will try to be humble in my winning of the fantasy championship belt.
I would like to take the time to thank all my trainers, who put in the hard work to make my dream come true. I will be your champion, a champion of the people who you can look up to. The foam belt I have constructed will remain around my waist for a long time. THANK YOU !! THANK YOU!!!
I dedicate this victory to all the guys at team punishment.

a jack and jill is a before wedding party to raise money for the bride and groom... i'm dead tired from moving my grandparents all day, so i'm not going... only caught one fight (i'm starting to hate mirgolata (sp?) is all i'll say)... taped it though so i'm going to sit down to watch them now"I'll ride the wave where it takes me"

ok, now i see. i don't think i've heard of that before. i have to get out more.
mirglioughta (sp?!?) is so inconsistent, it seems. some of those break up seconds into a clinch are crazy. can't say he has a fan over here, either.0 -

well this stoppage i can somewhat understand but under the circumstances... well when you see it, let me know what you think cause i think it should have continued.
edit: ok i just watched the fight again and i'm still upset about the stoppage. Shots were being landed but in no way was the fighter in danger. He was defending himself and doing the best he could in that position. I say horrible stoppage at the time it was stopped... maybe if it was halfway through the round or something, but not then. This ref has alot of explaining for his efforts over these past 2 weeks. Amazing respect from both fighters after the fight, love seeing that when something like this happens."I'll ride the wave where it takes me"

ok i agree with you that people shouldn't be changing their opinion on Thiago completely because of this, but it looked like he had a huge weight advantage at the fight and i lost a little respect for him because of that. They did say something about him rolling his ankle and that caused him to not make weight, but really it's a matter of respect and fighters should make the weight that they are contracted to fight at. Still a damn good fighter though and i'm not going to route against him because of it. He just better make weight next time!
I agree, it's always fun talking to you guys. I look forward to it every time i come online lol."I'll ride the wave where it takes me"

just about to watch the leites/marquart fight and thales is coming out to one of my favourite songs ever... gotta love bob
edit: i disagree with the decision on this fight. I saw it as a draw with possibly a win for marquart (round 2 maybe 10-8??? the only thing that keeps me away from this is the last 10-15 seconds). Anyways it was a great fight, i agreed with joe that the 2nd point taken away was the wrong call but what can you do. That piledriver (also illegal i believe) at the end was sick.
I really don't think this loss will set marquart back at all though in the eyes of the ufc. He clearly won the fight (without the deductions)"I'll ride the wave where it takes me"

even though i don't like hughes, i do respect him as a fighter and don't think he would ever regret taking a fight win or lose."I'll ride the wave where it takes me"
