I depend on those two hours. I use it to workout and shower etc.
It helps break up the day. But when she will not nap.....Uggg.
We both get more and more cranky as the day goes on. I love the heck out of this little bugger but man it can be hard.
I have a whole newfound respect for stay at home moms.

Flying dragon axe kick = nap. That's really how mom's do it.

I got lucky and I have a good napper. But, she's been taking longer and longer to go to sleep lately. I don't know what's going on. She is up there now squealing and singing and jumping in her crib. I put her down 40 minutes ago. :D

This is supposed to be my workout/shower time too...so when she wakes up early it really throws me off. This is awful, but yesterday she woke up at the end of my workout and I just HAD to shower, so I did...but she was so pissed because she could hear me in the shower that by the time I went to get her, she was all sweaty and crying! But, that was better than me being all sweaty and crying...right? :D

    How old is she?
Little enough, just let her watch you when you workout, put her in the bathroom when you shower, etc. My daughter used to be in her little bouncer and followed me around with whatever I was doing. It distracts them.

As they get a bit older, the naps get a bit scarcer I'm afraid. She may be tired but is fighting it because there are so many more interesting things to do. Also if you get cranky, she feels it. She's not hungry or anything?

I don't think that's awful. by age 2 you should able to leave them alone in a safe spot for long enough to take a shower. crying for 10 minutes never killed anyone!
  • I was going to ask...have you tried different things to make her sleepy...like white noise? My daughter used to go to sleep with the sound of crickets chirping every day and night. :D Also, have you tried just fully wearing her out in the morning?

it's threads like this that make me think i shoiuld stop having sex forever becos nothing is worth the risk of having a child, unless i can pay someone else to raise it.

lol, I know it's not really that awful. She just looked so wrecked when I got to her, that I felt bad. Her hair was all crazy and she had taken off her jammies even...lol. I am giggling about it now. I know she was really fine, though.

She is a year and a half. Normally she takes a bottle and goes right to sleep, and stays that way for 2 hours solid. But yesterday and today she is not having it. I can't let her into the workout room . if I 'm on the tredmill she will try to climb up and that can be trouble .

No way man, having a child is one of the best things I ever did. It is really great experience to have. The Pro's far out way the Con's. After the first 6 months its really great for a guy.

Is it possible that she is wanting to take a later nap? When do you normally put her down? I think my daughter is wanting/needing to go down later...but on the rare occasion that I put her down after 2 (if we've been out or something), then she takes FOREVER to get to sleep...so I don't know what's up.

You need to tire her out.
Mine is 3 and people are amazed that he still naps almost everyday during the week. I run him ragged. I take him outside, to the park, the mall, an inside playground. It gets his energy out and he willingly takes a nap.
She may be going through a growth spurt...sometimes they don't like to nap then. Take her outside.

And I don't feel right when you're gone away

I think your right. I gotta keep her up longer now, maybe after lunch.

haha I was thinking the other day that I couldn't handle FEEDING a kid. A baby, I could probably handle that (though there is no way you'd ever get me to breast feed). but a kid-kid...I mean you have plan MEALS. you have to go the GROCERY STORE. You have to listen to kids complain that they don't want to eat this or that. I think that would definitely cramp my style!

a little brandy in the bottle....that's what my sister did to me.....:o
  • When my daughter was a couple of months old we put her in bed and let her cry for a long time. Since then she always goes to bed awake by herself. I see so many kids that have to be babied to sleep every night. I'm so glad we did that. She doesn't take any naps though. She just refuses ever since she was...... one and a half years or something like that.

    Cramp your style? Hahaha
Everything changes when they arrive. If you knew me before my daughter was born.....oh man, you would never think of me doing this. My buds still are shocked at the way my life is now. I really love it. But its not for everyone.

If that is the way you think and act, that is the way the child will most likely act.

Definitely not in the workout room unless.... have you tried a playpen, one that can be put up anywhere quickly (though my daughter HATED the playpen.. only ever used it a couple of times!). See, she's getting a lot more inquisitive and her own little person a lot more now. Maybe her routine just needs to be changed a bit. Ah.. those were the days! :D:D:D

Funny... I blame my boyfriend not my son for that. :o:D

well I mean, I don't really eat like that, so I would have to just cook and buy food specifically for the kid. And what if I ended up eating it! I know this because I couldn't handle a boyfriend because you have to eat when you have a boyfriend because THEY want to eat! I gained 40 lbs! It's the same reason I don't think I could handle being married and having someone else's food and eating habits determine mine (and honestly, I fear even dating now). It is not part of the intuitive eating practice. I have really big problems when other people enter my eating arena!
