When it comes to shit that matters, and I am not talking slinging a pizza or making a sandwich, we American Employees far from suck...

    "U.S. Most Productive Country
    Tuesday September 4, 2007
A new report by the International Labour Office claims that the United States is the most productive country in the world. According to the report, "The acceleration of productivity growth in the US has outpaced that of many other developed economies." In the report, the U.S. is followed in productivity by Ireland, Luxembourg, Belgium, and France.
However, the report stats that Americans work more hours than any other workers in highly developed countries so if you look at productivity per hour worked, the most productive countries are Norway, the U.S., and France. I find this report surprising; I never would've guessed that the U.S. is so productive, especially compared to Pacific Rim countries, which don't even make the top five!"

That is great. I hope it stays that way. Maybe these kids will grow out of being lazy. But for now the ones who work for me as cashiers suck.
Yea its a easy job but its not shitty, You go to the beach all day and work for 6 hours at night waiting on customers. Its not a bad job for a high school or college student. They just have to work their schedule. Pretty fucking simple. Want a day off? Ask for it.

I know what your saying but just remember these kids don't take your job seriously as i assume it's minimum wage for such an easy job. They just want to party and enjoy the summer. You are just a means to an end like it or not. This isn't their career so they aren't going to take it seriously. I was the same way at their age and now i'm an excellent worker i must say. It comes with age and responsibility.

First of all, I am the owner.
Second I am well liked by my employees. I have many that return to work every season b/c I take good care of them with a bonus at the ens of the summer and I buy them all pizza every week.

And by the sounds of you I am sure I would not hire you for any job.
    Knucklehead

It sounds like there's some truth to what this guy was saying- whether or not your employees like you has nothing to do with whether or not you're a good manager. It sounds like a culture of under-performance has crept in to your US office, and that the bad experienced employees teach their bad practices to the new, impressionable employees.

If you're serious about the issue, then fire your under-performers, and tell the mid-performers to step up or they'll suffer the same. Give significant bonuses to your best performers. Lead by example. If you show that you take their performance seriously, then they'll respect you and work hard.

There's a plenty of management books on employee performance, like the following: http://www.amazon.com/Five-Principles-Corporate-Performance-Management/dp/0470009918/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1215581660&sr=8-14
