then please, point me to these scientists who say the world is ending and things are worse now than they have ever been at any point over this planet's 4 billion year history? because i have heard nothing about this and am quite curious.

it is really quite simple. you look at other mythologies and religions and it is not hard to tell the bible is no different. fantastical creation myth, epic stories of heroes and men being manipulated and aided by the gods, magical happenings everywhere, sex and infidelity leading to tragedies. it's good stuff. you get to the new testament, and it's all written 30 years after the death of its main character from memory and legend. ever play telephone? think of how those tales come out 30 years later. hell, even when i tell stories, the keg stands i did in college have become almost miraculous in their record-setting. same phenomenon. we've got legends about abe linocln never telling a lie and washington with his cherry tree or whatever, and we all smile about how they are fun little tall tales about our heritage. the bible is the same. there's not one shred of evidence to indicate it is anything else. until i see such evidence, i'm going with the most logical explanation.

which is that this isn't the apocalypse, humans are overpopulated, and any natural disaster or climate change is the earth's way of controlling a pest problem.

yeah, I'm with ya, these are scary times indeed. world geopolitical forces and climate patterns re-aligning at the same time. no way some big shit isn't gonna come.
