    I disagree with that !

An 82 game schedule plus playoffs possibly playing into June

    No way !

How many days or weeks in between tournaments for Golfers ?

Golf is more of a mental game...not physical..mentally you can be drained but come on Hockey guys go months in playing very physical game

The average golfer vs the average NHL'er...no comparison.
You think Tiger sits on the couch Mon-Wed, then just swings his club 69 times Thur-Sun?
The man is a physical specimen who has a regimented workout and diet program on top of his mental game.

The difference is you don't have to be like Tiger to succeed in golf

Hockey Players have to be in great shape or you're not going to cut it for 82 games and playoffs

Watching the game last night, I was amazed at the superior athletic prowess of hockey players. Unbelievable what shape these guys are in; and sheer toughness. Guy got hit in the face with a puck and came back out.

It's crazy the shape these guys are in

Plus playing three OT's is like playing 2 games in the same night

I was shocked to he came back.....That was a nasty shot he took

I heard earlier in the series his nose broken and then he took that shot as well

watching golf = is tiger wearing red? i'd watch it for as long as I'd watch the Kentucky Derby...2.5 minutes. granted, most of the national golf audience are from FL and AZ and they watch it because they're old retirees who take a day off from the links.

watching hockey = athletic poetic ballet in the midst of a ice box, with the occasion head on collision and fight.

I love hockey, but unfortunately, the NHL does not translate well onto TV for the average sports fan. It is a MUCH better game in person.

ESPN doesn't want it because they were getting killed in the ratings.

I think the main reason is because the NHL wanted far too much money for the contract. ESPN wanted to put in on ESPN2, IIRC, and the NHL didn't want it. Couple that stalemate with the fact that the money couldn't be worked out, and we get what we have now, with a network deal with the horrid VERSUS channel and half a season of once-a-week games on NBC.

The NHL was stupid... they needed to be relevant again after that lockout and they should've let ESPN take that TV contract for pennies on the dollar for a couple years and then renegotiated it.
  • If i were ryan malone(a hockey player golf fans) i'd walk up to tiger and smack him across the face with his 9 iron (can't hurt the precious too much) and say now swing.
Malone got nailed in the face with a puck after he already had a broken nose and kept playing as would any other hockey player because they are badass.
I don't think golf is a sport because old men and ladies play it, and they demand silence or they just can't play. It's a leisure activity. It's what hockey players do to wind down after the season not vice versa.
Tiger woods as an athlete should support other athletes. He could have just said something positive and moved on, not too cool of tiger.

    There's no 'i' in team.

    But there is in Tiger.

Not a team player. But has a hot wife.

    Hockey players love golf.

    Why?

Because no one is beating the hell out of them while they're trying to hit the ball.

Let's just remember that a ballet dancer was named top athlete one year....

I don't recall seeing any fat golfers.
Golf has a place in my heart as my great Uncle John used to play and he showed me how.
I won't even get into soccer....that takes some serious stamina.

I played hockey, I was a goalie and Tiger is right in a way. I love hockey and one of the reasons I'm not crazy about the game like I once was is that there's way too many effing teams. Skim off at least 8-10, and the sport would become more popular, etc.

Tiger is an athlete in that he's had 3 knee operations which is as many as any athlete in any sport. Most do like him besides what's not to like, he's a good looking nerdy type, hot wife, 130ft yacht and building 42m home in Jupiter, FL etc.

Let's face it hockey has a lot of work to do to get their audience back, a majority of the NHL in the USA (problem) and a sport like NASCAR is even more popular why is that?

When the sport of hockey gets his act together then go after whatever Tiger said cause many others are saying the same damn thing including me!

Let's go BRUINS, oh I should save that till next year, eh?

I watched last night's game after the Braves and Yankees games were not on.

I only watched it because there was no other sports on but it was a fun game to watch.

Tiger has an opinion he is allowed to it.

Most people not in Canada or a select few US cities would agree that hockey is just not that captivating on TV.

And golf is? This is coming from a guy (TW) whose sport is about as entertaining on television as darts, billiards, or equestrian.
I LOVE golf...but I NEVER watch it on tv. It translates waaaaay worse than hockey does...the thing that's great about golf, to watch or to play, is being outside in a beautiful setting...obviously it's not the same to watch from your couch.

hello? 1/2 black 1/2 asian commenting on hockey. that's like asking the french about hygiene. dumb question. dumb reaction to the answer.

anyway, broad scope of things, tiger does more positive with his life than you do. who cares if he hates hockey? he's like 89% of the rest of the country.

I dislike him but it's neither off the first two opinions that you gave.

Those interviews that you've seen that make him seem like a nice are about as phony as they come. It's that stupid grin he has on his face when he makes one of those lame ass jokes that the commentators basically fall out of there chairs laughing about.

I love it that everyone thinks that the guy is so professional but he'll drop f-bombs like it's going out of style in front of hundreds of kids when they're following him around during a round of play. I've seen the guy play a few times live and he acts like a 30 handicapper that's swilling beers and dropping f-bombs with his buddies.

The guy is a phony but then again most pro golfers are.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me.
