I think people show you what they want you to see some of the time.
It doesn't make me sad anymore that people have to hide behind some other persona...it makes me sick and I am tired of it.

Trix : "you are SO goofy. I love IT"

Me : "uhm... thanks?"

Trix : "it is a good thing trust me"

But as said why would I hide my inner goofiness?? I still have a good heart but just a splash of quirkiness to mix it up a bit

i think a REAL discussion of a 'true self' is a lot more deep than i had intended with this thread ....and was merely thinking of it as most took it, a basic representation of 'who you are'.....for real, sans pretension and/or trying to be something other than you.


i agree with most of the reasons given for attempting it, and i also agree it is rare for us to share our 'true selves' with all....and probably don't share everything with anyone, even those closest. however, i think we can, overall....see and get to know the root of a person, if we're lucky.
