Anyone got any tips to lighten it more before I put the dye on next week? :)

You need to get yerself a filler of some sort! If ye put brown over a blondeygingery thingy then its not gonna turn out the way you want it to. I'd recommend putting in some red/browny red dye to take the orangeyness away, then putting the brown over it OR dying the lot of it in a semi-perm black dye then letting that one fade.

I, like Sian, have had every colour under the sun in my hair. My hair is currently brown with green and blue in it - very odd looking but slightly better than the mess it was in when I was on hols! My awesome products of recommendation (esp. for the coloured/damaged haired folks among us) are:

Aussie Shampoo and Conditioner, specifically Colour Mate shampoo, and 3 minute miracle conditioner. http://www.aussiehair.com/ You can buy huuuuge tubs of it in the States, makes me sad that its so expensive here. Its perfect for keeping your colour, yet improving its condition. You need to use it constantly for it to work though - no chopping and changing!! I've also got my boyfriend using it, and it has worked wonders for his mid-back length frizzy mass of hairdoom

Lee Stafford R U Taking Protection?

I use this stuff between shampoo and conditioner. My growing hair has totally improved since I started using it - usually my hair looks like shit when I get it to a certain length. You can get it in Boots - not sure about the States though

    Special Effects hair colour
If you want crazy hair colour, this is the brand to use! http://www.beeunique.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=72

i just got a hair cut. (im all brand spankin new now)
i love when i get a new hair cut.
it feels nice for some reason.

one of these days i'll have to shave my facial hair.
    it's been a few weeks.

moral of the story is this:
i have hair and i talked about it in this thread.
    it's blonde-brown colored and short.

    now who's proud of me??

This thread inspired me to go all-over blonde tonight!

I've got the color on now, and I'm waiting to rinse.

If this looks bad, I'm going to hold each one of you personally responsible.

Does anyone know what happened to the Aussie detangler called Knot Forgotten? This stuff is amazing! But just when I became addicted to it, it seems to have disppeared from the shelves? Anyone know what I'm talking about?

So I did my hair myself last night :) it's not tooo bad. It was pretty cool when I had it done, but this morning looked kinda crap so I'm using hair clips for the first time since I was a kid :o I actually blow dried it myself with the rolly brush and all :) and it actually wasn't too hard.

I'm currently using washing up liquid to fade it. I put a red/brown color on it about 4 weeks ago so it should even out when I put the chocolate brown on on Tuesday/Wednesday....

    Wish me luck! ;)

i think i forgot to mention the brand of at home dye that i use. i prefer garnier nutriesse on my roots. i use natural brown or light brown. keeps gray away longer than l'oreal preference did. my mother in law prefers l'oreal Excellence to turn her gray hair (once brown) blonde. she thinks l'oreal (the expensive one) makes her hair too red.

    awww, thanks! :)
btw - you still need to PM me that pic of the 2 of us. you know what one i am talking about, haha. i still haven't even uploaded my pics to the computer yet. sheesh. between the tour, my injury, being sick, the holiday weekend then back to work...i've just been unmotivated to touch my computer at home.

i feel like cutting all of my hair off.

might as well. all that beautiful hair, always hidden under a baseball cap in any case. ;)

thanks for the info. you're at least the 2nd person to give a positive plug for garnier.....and also loreal. in the past i've used natural instincts? i think....whatever one has a lot of 'natural' ingredients or something. also tried loreal's feria. i liked it b/c it was multi-dimensional color just as they said on the box. :) so if at home highlights prove too difficult, i might go back to the feria.

:D wow, I really can't picture it... but I bet it really really suits you actually. When you've had your hair straight OR curly for a while, it makes a huge difference to change it... lol, I don't think either of us are the girliest... so we should definitely have a girly night next time :) and just enjoy the irony.

    yikes!
yes, that is soooo not me. trust me, i like my make-up, although fairly minimal......love polish, always wear perfume, etc. always wear jewelry, like skirts and dresses....but yea...just not 'girly' about it. i have my moments sure, but i am just too into being comfortable and i like low-maintanence too much to get too girlified.....:p haha.

and that, i have no idea. quite honestly, i was never too fond of how my hair got 'done' at salons. i have naturally curly hair, and i liked it be quite natural. in the past year i've enjoyed having it ironed after a cut, but not something i would even attempt to do at home, nor could i be bothered. also why i decided to go for the japanese straightening. :) wake up with sitck-straight hair, easy. even easier than my curly hair. less fighting with knots. i still pet my hair, haha, b/c it just feels soooo different! i do like to have fun with my hair, wearing it up in different ways, etc.....but yes not really about fussing.

wow, I really can't picture it... but I bet it really really suits you actually. yes, it's a HUGE change. first couple times i had it done, i didn't like it really...freaked me out. altho i always liked how it felt. everyone else really liked it, but i just felt so odd. over time i enjoyed it. thus why i went for the straightening. i used to blowout my hair in high school...but not since. so yes, i've been walking around with my curly hair for 20+ years....although varying lengths/changes otherwise. i think the biggest thing is bangs! i haven't had bangs since i was a little girl :o.....so very odd! i like em though.

    and, absolutely....! :D

very chic! I love it! I'm not very good at blowing out my hair either - I do the best I can, but a straightening iron really helps me smooth it out.
