oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

...
Whoa. I never knew that. I always thought the Union Jack was England's Flag.
Does England fly their flag over schools and post offices?
Seen as this bit wasn't covered (I don't think) ... neither of our flags (neither the St George's Cross or the Union flag) are flown over schools or post offices ... in fact compared to the US it is flown in very few places. You can probably go to most towns and villages in this country and you wont see a flag flying anywhere.
We also play our national anthem a lot less than in the US. None of this at the beginning of every sports game at whatever level type stuff.
... and I think that pretty much applies to most of the UK (Northern Ireland is a bit different when it comes to flag flying ) as well with their individual country flags and the Union flag.
Unpatriotic bunch we are
So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?

A lot of homes fly it where I live though. I mean the country homes.
That took me far too long to figure out! Even after reading to the end of thread, I couldn't figure out what you were getting at. Obviously I meant Britain!

Really ... I've never seen that. I've only seen them on houses during the World Cup
When I lived in the States pretty much every house had the flag ... in fact pretty much every building ... and of course in school there every classroom. It just seemed strange to me as I'd never even owned a flag

So true! And of course the random flag poles everywhere with huge flags!
So strange. I saw a town and almost every house had a flag, plus all the the street light poles and electricty poles or whatever they're called had a flag too...

a bit overkill..
we only use our flag on special occasions. Independence day, special holidays.. MAJOR sporting events...
