plus it has a lion on it and it also has the word 'rampant' as part of its official name.

:)
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

I'm a fan of the Union Jack.
    ...
And remove all of the connotations associated with it... and view it based ONLY on it's design graphics... so, please, no Racist/Nazi/Anti-Semite crap is necessary... the German battle flag of World War Two is pretty impressive.

You know what's interesting is the history of the swastika. It's been used everywhere, and still is in lots of places. Mostly a very peaceful association also. Native Americans had it also. The Nazis really destroyed the symbol.

that is just a beautiful design.... take away its connotations and its pure symbolism.

Jack White would love it :D

ANY flag with a dragon on it gets my vote! Plus I was born in Cardiff so I think I'm obliged to say that, or something.....

Actually, that's one that sprang to mind too. I'm not sure anyone has a cool looking flag though. Maybe if it had a picture of Jeff Ament holding both thumbs up like the fonz, then maybe...

Yes, I do like both of those flags. And besides that, most people don't realize that the swastika had been around for thousands of years by the time the German army misappropriated it. That being said, if you take away every connotation the Nazi flag has and view it strictly as a design piece, it is very unique and striking.

Edit: I just read the rest of the thread.....silly me for restating everyone else.

yeah, I can't remember the true symbolism of it, although I remember learning in school that the Nazi's didn't create and completely changed it's face forever.

btw, I've heard that the swastika was originated from a 'crooked cross' ?

the word swastika comes from the sanskrit svastika - su meaning good, asti meaning to be and ka as a suffix.

for the thousands of years before hitlers little gang appropriated it, it was a symbol of good luck, strength and power.

i just find it offensive. and not to mention its rather irritating when foreigners mistake people flying it as brits. and have you seen the new zealand flag. holy shit they may as well admit themselves as the 7th australian state.

I didn't realise people did mistake it to be honest. It's quite different (maybe more so to you and I) It SHOULD be changed, I agree. As well as the NZ one.
