NY's Rock Experience," 101.9 RXP, is calling itself "NY's Boss Experience" for an extended weekend, today through Sunday. In addition to beefing up their Springsteen airplay, the'll also be giving away Giants Stadium tickets over these four days. Go to 1019rxp.com to request three Springsteen tracks, and you'll be automatically entered to win tickets. And on Monday, morning show host Matt Pinfield will be giving awa y pit passes to one of the shows. Stream the station here to listen.

I remember when Matt Pinfield was on mtv.

  • not PJ, but I heard Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses by U2 yesterday. Haven't heard that on the radio since the 90's.

  • awesome. every time I turn it on now, I get some indie band I've never heard of. They've been going far too "Experimental" for me since Matt Pinfield came on board. I liked it a lot better when it was DJ-less

I don't think the indie route is necessarily a bad thing though. They still play a lot of the familar radio songs you'd hear elsewhere.

not saying it's necessarily bad, just not my cup of tea. If people like that, discovering new bands, cool. I just liked it better when they debuted, just barebones rock. No DJ's, no banter, very few bands I had never heard of. I think I posted on this very thread, hoping they would stick with the no-DJ route
  • yeah, I've seen it at the NY radio boards, and in a few of the papers. Maybe 10 years ago, I would have cared. Now KRock has become a joke. Their format changes with the wind. I'm hoping this 101.9 station takes off. Do they have DJ's? I haven't heard any yet, and I hope they don't. When krock went back to music, I thought it was great that there were no DJ's. Then the idiots who like to talk over songs slowly came back. then the infatuation with the Beastie Boys came back too. And I left. Again

I went 2 for 2----Krock/country music rumors, and the station staying DJ-less. Another funny thing reading from 9 months back----Xavier talked of being bored of the All clemens all the time sports talk. Well, I pretty much quit sports talk cold turkey. Francesa solo is unbearable. I can only take Michael Kay in extrememly limited doses.

I think I'm in the minority of enjoying Francesa solo. As arrogant as he can be, it's like a serious talk show with no schtick and gimmicks.

ehhh, it's not for me. Droning on and on, very repetitive. i think sports bores him now, after he and Russo did the Imus timeslot for a while, and branched out into other areas, like politics.

It was kind of amusing on election day. It was like listening to the Francesa political roundtable.

Getting back on topic, another reason I'm a fan is that program director responded to my email when I asked to hear more Pearl Jam and related music on the station.

  • does anyone remember when 104.3 used to be a hard rock/metal station? they were awesome.

then someone decided we needed ANOTHER classic rock station instead.

    Andrew ,

This Holiday Season, 101.9 RXP is helping to give back. Starting at 6am on Friday morning and lasting until Sunday evening, 101.9 RXP will be on-site in the center court of the outlet mall, collecting non-perishable foods and monetary donations to benefit the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, dedicated to alleviating the direct effects of hunger and poverty in New Jersey. Attendees will also have the opportunity to enter to win a Jersey Gardens shopping spree.

yeah i listen to it, anything with Matt Pinfield on it I will check out. I have listned to him for years since his WHTG 106.3 days here in NJ. The man is a fountain of Music knowledge. I remember he used to DJ at some local clubs around town also, the amount of CD's he used to bring was unreal, he had anything you wanted to hear always.
Thats a lovely accent you have. New Jersey?

It's like a cross between K-Rock and Q-104 with some WPLJ sprinkled in.
if this is true then i GOTTA check this station out! seems really awesome!

According to David Hinckley of the Daily News there's a rumor that Emmis is considering selling the station to ESPN. But Emmis says it's not true.
