Listened for a second one morning, I didn't like the song so I turned it back to whatever I was listening to at the time...maybe I'll give it a shot....if I listen to one sation for too long, I get tired of the set list they play over and over again.....so it is good to have more choices

It's like a cross between K-Rock and Q-104 with some WPLJ sprinkled in.

  • i have liked what i have heard ... only complaint is the inclusion of nickelback.

with calming the kids, i have magic potion in the form of a 10 yr old mix tape i recently found ... live ripple by the grateful dead ... knocks her out everytime.

I am really excited about this. I was really surprised NYC didn't have an "alternative" format. This seems to be it, without the silly exclusion of classic rock.

On paper, my ideal station, but I have not listened yet :D
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

    acoustic?

yeah that for the faithful is a GRATE disc

but my little dude dug the light jazz-which I have none of of course (other than a few obligatory metheney records)!
  • I like it. KRock disappoints. If I wanted to hear the Beasie boys and The Chili Peppers all the time, I'd buy their CD's. Plus, 10/19 is my birthday, so 101.9 must be a good thing. But I still listen to AM 90% of the time. I've become an old fart

it also comes at a good time because i'm tired of all clemens all the time on the sports talk stations.

Maybe a little too much old(classic) stuff for me, but I'll definitely look it up the next time I'm down to the city. Another rock station is always welcome.

cool! I didn't know there was a new station. I'll have to check it out. Any station that plays PJ and the Goo Goo Dolls sounds good to me :)

and the song is just called Broadway, not Broadway is Dark Tonight :-)

I've heard that, you must be frequenting the NY Radio Messageboard and sorry about the incorrect title of the song Allie.

  • yeah, I've seen it at the NY radio boards, and in a few of the papers. Maybe 10 years ago, I would have cared. Now KRock has become a joke. Their format changes with the wind. I'm hoping this 101.9 station takes off. Do they have DJ's? I haven't heard any yet, and I hope they don't. When krock went back to music, I thought it was great that there were no DJ's. Then the idiots who like to talk over songs slowly came back. then the infatuation with the Beastie Boys came back too. And I left. Again

I heard one guy doing afternoon drive. I don't mind them if they tell you about the music, especially about the new stuff, which is what the one guy did this afternoon as I was listening.

It sounds like it's a cross between all demographics, K-Rock, Q-104 and WPLJ. In addition to hearing that Goo Goo Dolls song, which you'd never hear on K-Rock or Q-104, I also heard a Matchbox 20 song, which you'd primarily hear on WPLJ.

That being said, I like what I'm hearing. I would like to see once they get established do things similar to other stations like workforce blocks or listener-generated playlists.

and RHCP every hour. I like KROCK. But the playlist was getting predictable. I like what they're doing this week with listener playlist.

I'm okay with a quick mention of the band, and the name of the song. I don't want to hear some idiot blabbing on and on about himself. And I really don't want to hear them talk over the music.

This DJ wasn't. All he was doing was talking about the new band that he played and that he saw them on Tuesday. It couldn't have gone on for more than 30 seconds.

Call it Zeppelin radio, which is just fine by me :)

Seriously, I am really loving these guys. My dream radio station: nice balance of "alternative" and "classic rock" I am not even going to bother fixing my car CD player. They pretty much do it for me. I wish they dropped the Goo Goo Dolls and Three Doors Down, and that they played more non-singles from bands' albums, but I really love them.

I also like how the commercial breaks are frequent but very short.
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

In Connecticut we have an awesome station that I like..104.1
They play lots of pj, coldplay, foo fighters, white stripes, rem and everything I have ever loved pretty much.
I normally do not listen to commercial radio. I love a station around here called WPKN and WPKM. It is in Bridgeport and Long Island. One of the only stations around that is completely funded by the people, for the people.

Oh and 104.1 doesn't play endless amounts of commercials. :)

Holy crap that's back? I remember when they first came out as 'Radio 104' back in the mid-90s and then they went haywire into hip hop and 'jack radio' then nothing. 'Radio 104' was an 'alternative' radio station, back when 'alternative' was becoming mainstream. I think I still have their bumpersticker on my playmate cooler.

    They are BETTER THAN EVER!!!!
Remember when the guy from Twisted Sister was dj'ing in the morning? That was 104, right?? lol
The only talking they do is the traffic during the hotspot hours. A few commercials and that is it.
It is like my soundtrack. I love it.
