its funny...everyone says they HATE the Rally Monkey. I think its cuz the little fucker actually makes a difference a lot. At least it seems that way (witnessed it many times in person)

its not even the monkeys as much as those clapper things ...its hard to watch a game with that noise

do those things have a name?

I am a Dodger fan, and I guess the best way to describe the way most of us in So Cal feel (except for the cultural vacuum that is Orange County) is this:

The Angels were always the red-haired step child. The name issues in recent years shows that very clearly. They want to be separate from LA, but not really, but sort of. The fans are separatists. They think Orange County is a place that actually exists. In reality, there are really only three things that exist in Orange County: Disneyland, which put it on the map, The "OC" tv show which made the term Orange County a household term, and botox.

Now, as far as the team goes, as a Dodger fan, I could never follow the Angels, and despite the fact that the team itself is really good, well run (all ex-Dodgers running the team, of course, and some of my childhood heroes at that), they'll always be the Angels. They'll always be the Disneyland team of MLB. They'll always have the gimmicks, the ralley monkeys, the fake foutains, the identity issues. They'll always be the Angels, even if they win the championship again. And the fans enjoy being the step children. Think Clippers fans. Think people who go see minor league baseball, even if a major league team is right there. Think people who take the train across country because they have a problem with flying. Defiance is the middle name of all Angels fans. The fans have a little cheer they do: "Go OC! Go OC!" Most of the people chanting that are doctors wives and their girlfriends, who go early to the games while their husbands are still at work.

Anyway, that is the way I see it. I love Scioscia, Hatcher and the rest. But they will always be the Angels.

trust me I wish the LA tag never happened. Just associates us with Raider and Dodger fans. Need I say more?

Only three things huh? Yeah we didnt have last year's Stanley Cup winner did we?

And I'm sure NY, and Miami, and EVERY other metropolitan area ,there's none of that botox there right? That's ours.

Scioscia went where he knew he'd win. And he has. I thank the Dodgers for not wanting him. Hey at least you guys have Andrew Jones now..

Haha. No, I didn't say there was no botox in LA. Just that it's one of the only things you can identify in the "OC."

Fox messed up the Dodgers, there is no doubt. I blame them for starting the snowball that led to hiring managers who were not Dodgers. But we agree on Scioscia. How can you not love that guy? Like I said, I give credit where credit is due. The team is great and is run very well by the ex Dodger staff. It's the fans who are ridiculous.

Jones blows. I'll trade you one Andruw Jones for all the rats in Disney Stadium.

it goes all the way up as far as how the team is ran, but yes, Scioscia and the crew have that team dialed right now.

As for Jones, no thanks...we'll keep the rats AND the Monkey ;)
  • and as for OC, that has nothing to do with the Angels. I think its a lame reference cuz only a few cities anyway in the entire county act like those retards on the show. Having said that, I'm over a lot of that here and am happy to be moving to Dallas.

Wish the Halos would just go back to being the California Angels. Those unis were tight too
  • Big John on the hill today.....just another Halo victory!!!!!
  • grand salami for Texiera. 9-8 Halos. This is why we brought him in

When Figgins booted that ball, I remembered when Gary Disarcina did the same thing in 1993 when the Angels blew an 8-0 lead.

I think Im going to the games on the 21st and 22nd. The last 2 before I move to Dallas on the 24th. Gotta get my fill. Cool thing is, the Halos go out to Texas for one more series, a weekend series with the Rangers on Sept. 19th I think. So I'll probably go check at least one of those out. Get to see a new stadium too
  • Just another Halo victory...and of course there was no lack of excitement when Frankie took the hill. God he's scary!!!!!
  • I will hold out hope that it's finally Cleveland's year until well after they don't even make the playoffs.
  • just another Halo victory!

I will be there this Sunday...hopefully will get playoff tix as well.

Too bad we didn't go 7 for 7 at Fenway/Yankee Stadium, but 5 out of 7 is respectable!
