So, I got inspired by the earlier thread titled "Movies that everyone likes but you don't." So I thought I's start a thread about underrated movies.

Robocop - probably one of the best sci-fi/action movies ever. every time I tell people this is one of my favs, I get weird looks. "I'd buy that for a dollar!"

Predator - see above

Starship Troopers - I love movies that can laugh at themselves

The Sandlot - you do not need to be a kid to appreciate it

  • The Royal Tenenbaums? But I'm not sure if that's underrated or not.
I love The Good Girl as well. I'm sure there's more...

Not sure if Tenenbaums is underrated either, but it's a helluva movie!

i love Enemy of the State and i frickin love Last Boy Scout for some reason... they are shit movies but i enjoy the escapism of them i think :)
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
  • Awww, I love The Sandlot! :)
  • Between 1987 and 1991 the Governator released Predator, Twins, Total Recall (My favorite Arnold Movie) Kindergarten Cop, and T2. That is one of the best stretches any actor has had for popular fun movies.

I guess if I picked one I would say Total Recall is the most criminally underrated.

Was he dreaming or was it real?

  • is the Sandlot considered underrated? thats one movie where everyone around my age (mid-twenties) seems to know the catch phrases. like, "your killin' me, smalls!" and "forr-e-vuurrr.."

Jackie Brown!. Arguably the best of Tarantinos movies, although generally looked at with disdain. Miles better than the shite he's put out since.

  • 'Inside I'm Dancing' - a fantastic Irish comedy drama starring James McAvoy about disability. It's the 'story of my life' but apart from a few Indie film critics and my sister, I've heard no one talk about it at all.

  • Heavyweights- hilarious. one of the best ben stiller performances ever. also, who doesn't love a movie with Goldberg from Mighty Ducks in it?

Me, Myself and Irene- One of the best movies I've ever seen for one-liners. "How's it hangin' fellas?" Ahhh, classic.

It was underrated in my book because it did relatively poor at the box office, from my recollection. Most likely due to the fact that it was aimed at kids but had no super hero, very few special effects and was not animated. Just a great original story.

Ah yeah. That was pretty good alright. It's one of those movies that comes on tv randomly at 2 in the morning every so often. Well worth watching though.

exactly how I ended up catching it. a random sleepless weeknight around 2. next thing I know I couldn't stop watching even though I should have tried to go back to sleep.

Any film starring his guy is always underrated. He did alot of supporting roles but check out his leading ones, especially Swimming With Sharks and Career Opportunity.

Clearly I would have to say..."I love these calm little moments before the storm, it reminds me of Beethoven" ...THE PROFESSIONAL...checkout this clip called Leon: The Professional" Tribute.

The right choice was made to NOT make a sequel to this movie which is a classic!
