Just a quick update from this morning. Her platelets are up to 9000 so they haven't decided if they want to wait to see if they keep going up or to do the other iv treatment.
So far they have done IVIG twice, platelet transfusion on Wednesday night and blood transfusion last night.
It's looking like she won't be home again tonight, but a slight chance she will.
:) that's brilliant... hopefully she's coming out of the hard part now and it'll all be plain sailing from here on in!

glad to see they are going up....takes time. how is she handling all of this? To this day, my son throws the biggest fits you have ever seen when they go to take blood after that whole affair.....even the finger prick test, it's quite a scene in the doc's office.

*positive vibes* hope she picks up and comes home real soon xoxox

Just heard, she is up to 16000. They almost said they were going to keep her until she got to 20000 but they are discharging her! She will be home tonight!

Thanks for all the well wishes! :D

That is such good news. I have been keeping tabs and hoping she would pull out of this. Hold her close and tell her how much you love her. I know I don't have to tell you this but I just can't imagine if I was in your shoes. Thank God she's getting better.

Just wanted to update that she did get to come home on Friday! We have been trying to keep her staying still, not easy with a 5 year old. She can still bruise very easily.
She said she wasn't ready to go back to school today and I think she was right because she is snoozing right now. I may send her Thursday because they are off on Friday, I don't want her to try and do too much too fast.
I also want to make sure I have some stuff printed out about what she has and papers from the hospital to send to school with her, the way she looks right now, bruises all over, the school would have CPS at my door in a minute.
Thanks again for all the prayers and well wishes, means so much to me! :D

Oh and she went for a platelet count yesterday and it was up even higher, of course the husband took her and can't remember what the number was but they are still on the rise!

That is awesome!! That is the best news I have heard all day. Is this something she will have to watch going forward or is it a one time horrible event.

    This what she had/has http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idiopathic_thrombocytopenic_purpura

The dr told us in the er, if this is what she had, that kids who get it have a 90% chance of never having it again.

It was brought on by the same cold that the rest of us have. Her immune system didn't know how to attack the germs and her platelets went all crazy.
