I know this might have something to do with the way Tool sets the band up as equals--like Maynard standing in the back for shows or them lowering or distorting the vocals so it doesnt stand out as much. I can get lost in TOOL's musicality, I cant in Pearl Jam.

With Pearl Jam, I cant really say I would feel the same about them if they didn't have Eddie. I really do hate admitting that but it is a PERSONAL truth.

At Pearl Jam its a interpersonal relationship between the audience and the guys, well mostly Eddie.

Maybe it's because some people get on the boards to actually seek info or revel in the excitement of an upcoming tour (and there's nothing wrong with that!)----not just daily musings by the same-ol, same-ol. I have nothing against you if you are part of "that group", but it bugs when there are comments so elitist as some of the ones in this post. Last I checked this site was for all fans, not just a few who think they own the place. Don't be a snob! PJ wouldn't be proud of you.

I wouldn't be able to see Tool without maynard or Pearl Jam without Eddie. They've just been together so long and have created so much that without either one of those guys, it just wouldn't be the same. They each would be able to go off and create something amazing with new people (APC for instance). ANd if someone tried to step in and replace either one...i think it would feel like a whole different band.

Unfortunately I've never seen tool live.

I would never want anyone to replace Maynard, cause you are right that wouldn't work--at all. I am saying if he just left, or they did an instrumental album.

Oh and you need to fix the never seen Tool thing...They are FUCKIN AWESOME LIVE. It is a completely different experience then PJ but amazing!
