The Nintendo Wii kicks so much ass

Seriously ladies and gentlemen. I finally scored one of these things a few weeks ago and I'm just loving it.
Twilight Princess = Amazing.
Super Paper Mario = Insanely fun and innovative as hell.
Wii Sports = Such a blast. A pack-in game that still remains one of the best for the whole console.
The "Virtual Console" is a kick too. I'm rocking Castlevania and Star Fox 64 right now. The web browser is a great feature as well.
No Hi-Def but running 480p on my DLP projector looks pretty damn good to me.
I don't see how Nintendo can lose this particular console war. If you are any kind of a gamer or just a human being with joy in your soul the Wii rules all!

That number would probably be much higher if they could keep up with demand. Its still hard to get one.
I'm still holding out for a black one, more games to come out and the price to drop below $200.
I'm not sold on it's staying power though.
Next generation will utilise it far more.
Colors, eh? Niiiice! I've been a Nintendo geek through and through since the original and have been somewhat craving a Wii for awhile now but funds are at a loss. Glad to hear they actually will be dropping the price sometime. Anyone happen to know when?
and I grab on your hips...
The Wii is currently riding on a massive wave of mainstream attention and has been purchased by lots of people who don’t normally play games. But how many of those people who are hooked on Wii Sports will also buy Wii Need For Speed?”
“Mainstream fads usually run their course within a couple of years tops. As the honeymoon period fades, the Wii will be going up against more and more graphically impressive games on the PS3 and Xbox 360. More people will be buying HD televisions and looking for the most immersive and stunning experiences available. MS and Sony realize people have bettered themselves financially since 1986. Nintendo assumes you're all still broke
its a niche, plain and simple
the hardware and games cant compete
its pretty much the pogo ball of gaming
2007 has brought a few more titles for Nintendo's hot new game system, and some of them have a little fun buried deep within them. Unfortunately, to get to it, you've got to dig through layer upon layer of clumsy, awkward use of the system's motion-sensing controls.
Is it worth the struggle? That depends on how badly you need to be entertained.
all signs point to the control problem not ever being fixed. the controls are not tight. even on the pack in game the controls are dubios at best. In Wii Sports Baseball, you could make a full throwing gesture with the Wii-mote to hurl the ball at the plate. Or, you could quickly flick your wrist to replace the full-blown motion. I might be able to overlook this cheap gameplay shortcut if the motions were at least calculated equally. But you'll oftentimes find that a simple flick of the wrist yields a speedier fastball than the full arching motion.
Also, anyone know if they're planning a Wii Sports 2? The thought of Nintendo making a sequel is very exciting considering the response to this game, which lets face it not many really made a fuss about as a serious game in the run up to release, and it turned out to be a blinder.

i don't know, man. i mean, i could afford a ps3 or a 360, and plenty of my friends could too......we all just don't want to spend that much on a gaming system. i don't look at it as nintendo assumes we're all broke, i see it as nintendo wanted to have a more appealing pricetag, and so far it looks like it's working. i'm picking one up in august, if i can find one that is. it's still next to impossible to find one on the shelves anywhere around here, and it's still not possible to get rainchecks for one. you just have to be lucky enough to be in the store when there's product on the shelves.
i don't know, maybe with my age, i've decided i don't need something that's going to give me the best graphics ever. i'd just rather have a fun time playing with the wife or kids. the Wii will do that, and at a great price.

I am just looking foward to the real arrival of top qaulity games for the Wii, once some of the upcoming titles hit, we'll be able to see what the Wii can do best.

yea i kinda just wanna be that girl who plays tennis by herself in her living room in her underwear
Graphics don't matter as much as Sony think. Good gameplay is what people want. Remember the original GTA? This is why the Wii is doing so well. No one cares what it looks like.
The DS Lite is probably the 2nd greatest system of all time. The Wi-Fi connection works flawlessly and the touch-screen controls allow for really innovative fun game play.
Superior graphics mean nothing if the gameplay sucks. Personally I'm sick of FPS's and sports titles. I want innovation in my games.
Oh, and to those who say the Wii motion detection controls are "gimmicky" or a "fad" I say you obviously haven't played a Wii. The controls are amazingly almost frighteningly perfect.

I think the Wii is very fun. How Nintendo manages to fix the controller issues, and if they can continue to produce games that utilize the innovation of the controller/remote will be their make or break.
Wii sports is fun and Zelda is a good game. Madden on Wii was decent at best, Tiger Woods is fun but so damn inaccurate...again, the innovation which is so exciting only goes so far. I just don't see how the that controller alone will be able to be used for other titles and be used effectively without Nintendo coming out with an additional device.
The PS3's controller, while it has some "interactiveness" and 360s that doesn't, still allow a gamer to do more within a game and give developers more options. Add in the fact that they both have amazing graphics, and amazing sound...especially on HDTVs!
Fanboys of any system are annoying...
I think that would be pretty interesting to see how that works.
Like, if you're stabbing someone...hahaha! Sweet!
Can you imagine seeing someone playing that game and not realize what they were doing? You'd think they were fuckin' nuts!
Weird. I love mine. Can't get enough of Tiger.

To me a fanboy just rips into any system other than his...which seems to accompany Sony fans a lot...but yeah every system has them...for me I enjoy my Wii however I am urging for the higher end output of a X360 or PS3....however everyday I lean more and more to the X360...PS3 still to this day seems like a lost cause to me....however it may turn around for them.....time will tell....
Nope. Entirely too much exercise.
Yeah, I just WANT an excuse to own all three.
At this time, I can see strengths and weakness in all of them.
For me, and I know people will see all three differently...
Wii:
Pros: Very fun to play. Wii sports is pretty fun. Zelda is a great game. System is cheaper then the other two.
Cons: Controller is still quite inaccurate which is frustrating at times. Poorest graphics of the three. Only one game on it (so far) that I would buy. How the developers can continue to work around the remote will be interesting to see.
PS3:
Pros: Amazing graphics and sound, tremendous potential, great games and features coming out soon, Blu-ray built in.
Cons: Expensive! Not that many games out that I would drop $50+ for.
360:
Pros: Largest selection of games on all 3 systems, great graphics and sound! Cheaper then the PS3. X-Box live is great.
Cons: The "equivalent" (Elite) to a PS3 costs almost as much. I see MS looking ahead and realizing they may have some more competition in the near future. If Blu-ray comes down in price it may be odd-man out.
And yeah...if I had the money I'd get all three...:p
