Nope - wanted to trip the parents.

the baby and kid bashing here this week?!? Is it the weather, or the let down that all of this crazy touring is almost over...

no. but at work I've often wanted to give the older kids/teenagers that come by a FIRM tap on the forehead.

also, I've on many occasions wanted to tell off ignorant and annoying parents.

    ;):D

  • I've considered kicking them as hard as I possibly could right in the seat of their wild asses and then punching the parents in the face. A wild child is one thing, but when I see a parent who is totally oblivious to the child acting out in public I can't take it.

Also, while we're on the subject of grocery store idiots, the people who congregate in the middle of the fuckin' aisles completely blocking it so nobody can get by all need to be smacked in the head with a baseball bat

LMAO--I didn't think of the content of the thread when I wrote that. Hahahaha.

Yes, I mean a "tater tot", in a bowl. ;)

I worked in a bookstore a few years ago, and this kid (about 3 or 4) pulls his pants down and started pissing in the store- on the books- the mom let him finish, pulled his pants up and walks out the store. She did not even stop to apologize or let anyone know. I caught the tail end of the piss.

Now that mother, I wanted to tell off- but she ran out pretty quickly. That was embarrassing, a mess to clean up and the loss of several books.

Ugh. Now that is NOT the norm, and is just horrible. While children at his age can't always be counted upon (okay, mostly never) to do the polite, hygenic thing, the mother should have 1) tried to stop him, 2) helped to clean up and 3) used it as a lesson for the little boy about where to NOT pee!

I am willing to bet that he was in the midst of potty-training (boys can take longer to get the "hang" of it), and had been encouraged to go outside if he is outside and needs to really, really go (at home only, hopefully). However, parents who follow that way of thinking should set limits.

    Just rude.

    No
Cause usually I AM the parent of those kids, running up and down the aisle...do you know how hard it is to shop with kids????

If someone tripped up my kids at the shops, I would probably kick them in the balls/tits, whichever applies :D

I can't stand it when parents let their kids run wild or push those little mini carts. So rude.

I was just thinking that. By all means, have children, just keep them out of sight till they're 25.

Do people forget being a kid, getting in trouble? Do they forget how much fun it was to run up and down the supermarket aisles and climb all over em and hide?

but as a parent- its your responsibility to control your kids in public. Are you going to pay for the damage that they make to the store owner?
For the most part, I see parents who let their kids cause damage, finish their shopping and walk out- with out paying for the damage. The store owner is left with the cost of replacing the item- is that fair?

Not all parents do this- but more often than not

No, I am not an asshole.
All that's sacred, comes from youth....dedications, naive and true.
  • One person's rights end where those of another begin, so while parents have the right to raise their kids however the hell they want....everybody else has the right to do their damn grocery shopping or whatever without some brat causing a disturbance. Kids are kids sure and they are hard to control at times, but when a parent obviously doesn't give a damn when their kids become a nuissance in a public place it is enraging!

Weird, I've never seen that happen. Sure I've seen kids running amok, a supermarket is like a giant playground to a little kid. More often than not though, I see parents at least attempting to reign their kids in and at least try to keep things sane. I don't think I've ever seen a kid willfully destroy anything in a supermarket either. My own kids have knocked things down before, reaching for a toy or a sweet, but they've always been made to pick it up and have never broken anything.
You ever notice how things that are very attractive to little kids........... small toys, lollies and chocolates etc........ are ALWAYS at a very child friendly level? In the aisles, at the checkout.......... it's almost like these places are BEGGING for toddler tantrums in their stores.

Not saying willfully destroy- but in the excitement- destroy.

Can't say I've seen too much of that either, and I've been doing the weekly shop for 20 odd years. Still, most of the time I am not paying a whole lot of attention to anyone else, just doing my thing and getting out of there.

I agree, if yer kid is running wild, and something gets broken, you should pay for it. Just haven't seen many examples of this. Most parents, when their kids do something wrong, seem to get a little embarrassed and are very apologetic.

Just seems to me there is very little tolerance for anything related to kids these days. They're just little people learning the ropes of what society expects from them, they don't come pre-programmed or anything.
