I feal my Cardinals are not going to make any moves today...fucking retards.
shame on them for not getting some serious bullpen help. I'm hearing they plan to move Wainwright back into the closer's role.
It's hilarious watching the non-events unfold on ESPN. they have 3 gusy in studio, a few via satellite, and there is absolutely nothing to report. It's become the "well, I remember back in 1997, when so and so traded what's his name to the other guys, and they spilled coffee on the paperwork before faxing it to the commissioner's office......." show

Shame on them indeed. Mahay, Sherrill, Fuentes, or Ohman is what they need, and it's looking like they won't get it. We've got prospects to deal, but they just won't.
Moving Wainwright back to the closers role would be the dumbest move I could imagine. He is a possible 20 game winner in the not too distant future. I pray Izzy handles himself well there now or we put Springer in that role. Wainwright and Carp back in the rotation should take a lot of stress off the bullpen and maybe give them some rest.
damn, that's not what I want to hear. i just grabbed WW in my fantasy league, and I'm desperate for closers. I even have Franklin. I think they could use WW there for just the remainder of 2008, then stretch him out in spring training.
Word is that Florida got too greedy, causing the deal to fall apart. Manny si owed $ 7 mil thru 08. Florida asked Boston for "more than" $7 mil, plus 2 prospects.

I think the Cardinals have more to gain with a rotation of Carpenter-Wainwright- Lohse and two hacks instead of Cap-Lohse and three hacks, but a stellar close in Wainwright in the bullpen.
I hear ya. It is pretty demoralizing for the whole team to watch the bullpen constantly blow leads though. WW won't be back for a few weeks, so if Izzy is any good, than it won't be a problem

Exactly. I really hope Izzy gets his shit together, even though this season far exceeds what I could have ever imagined from this team. I should just pipe down and enjoy the ride.
Ok, here's my conspiracy thoery regarding this whole thing. You tell me whether I should get a tin foil hat:
Manny fired his agent a few months ago, and hired Boras. If manny's 2 options are picked up, his fired agent still gets paid for agreeing to that contract. Boras wouldn't see a dime until before the 2011 season, at which point manny woudl be 38, and looking at a 2-3 year deal at best. Boras tells him to do what you have to do to ensure that Boston has had enough of you, and they don't pick up your options. Manny only agreed to be traded if whatever team acquired him agreed to decline their team options for 2009 and 2010

yeah nice deal for the rays and good for them for going out to get another bat. They can always bring up David Price if they need another arm.
