And quite apart from that, given how the law operates in this day and age, particularly with regard to underage sex, I'd have thought the smart thing to do would be to be bloody certain of who you are dealing with.

Regardless of what they look like with clothes on, I still think a 50 year old man could tell the difference between a 14 year old and a 19 year old when he has a 14 year old girl standing naked in front of him. Just my opinion.

Lack of consent is one thing. Writing up an internet ad on a fetish site soliciting sex with older men seems pretty deliberate. I not saying it's ok, it just does not exactly fall within the classifications of no consent regardless of the lack of morals and judgment in her partners.

She could have stripped naked and thrown herself at him and it would still be considered rape. The issue is that according to the law, it doesn't matter what she says or does because she's not viewed as old enough to make that decision. The concept is similar to the idea that a 5-year-old can't legally give consent because, regardless of whether she agrees to or solicits sex, she's not old enough to make that decision.

In a lot of states it's 16, some even 14. If she said she was older...ouch. Tough call. Not my cup of tea, but some girls do look and act much older and more experienced than than what they are. A picture would probably clear up a lot of disagreement. There's always that one case that leaves everyone's heads spinning...

I disagree, plenty of girls have developed a woman's body by the age of 14, I would say the give away would be how old they look facially, but again, some girls when they have make up on can look a lot older. One of my sister's friends is 22 and frequently gets mistaken for being a school girl because she's petite and looks so young in the face. I also had a mate at school who had a full grown beard at the age of 14 and he had no trouble getting served for alcohol in the supermarket.

I also remember being down the pub a few years ago, and one of my mates pointed out a girl at the bar and asked how old I thought she was. I said about 18 - she was pretty tall and curvy and facially looked to be that age. My mate then told me this girl was in his sister's class at school - she was 13!!!

I'm not saying this guy isn't a creepy pervert for whatever reasons, I'm just saying that it is perfectly possible for a 14 year old to pass as a 19 year old, and if this guy honestly believed she was that age then I don't think he did anything wrong.

The age of consent law is in place because before that age, children cannot make educated decisions.

Because she is too young to make a good decision, it's not her fault that she whored her self out, it's the guy that should be punished...I think that is messed up logic.

The fact they met on the internet has a lot to do with it. There's no way he'd have been able to turn her head and appeal to her, develop a rapport with her and manage to get his end in had they been in a bar. The internet is the tool he used in order to establish a connection with her. How come nobody else on the site that she posted on took up her offer? Could it be that they aren't predators? Could it be that they could tell fairly quickly that they were dealing with a child?

If two people meet in a bar, have sex and it turns out one is under age then the circumstances are different. AND the charges, IF any were laid, would have been different.

You don't know that for sure. Like I said in my previous post, plenty of 14 year olds both male and female can look much older than they are. And if he believed she was a consenting adult, no matter how fucked up the nature of what they did, if she was 19 there would have been nothing illegal and we would have just put them both down as being a pair of perverts. Yes, I do get out quite a lot...and I'm also female and can easily pick out when a girl is underage. I think that girl in the photo looks too young for a sick fuck of a 50 year old to consider having sex with.....

My niece is 14 -- I've been to her school and seen her whole grade at assembly....some have boobs, some have curves....but they ALL look underage still in my opinion.
