Great day today in the Puget Sound!! 90 degrees and sunny. I went on a long bike ride, grilled up the most excellent steak, drank a lot of beer, and the Mariners WON!!!

    Not too shabby! :D

Our Mariners are a dismal 5-15 so far for the month of May.

Who is to blame for this stink-fest we are producing?

Do we call for Bavasi's head or McLaren's head?

“I look at it, and I just don’t understand it. I really don’t. The only scenario that could be worse than what’s going on right now is if we didn’t prepare and we didn’t play hard. If that was the case, it would be unbearable.”
    -John McLaren

I really hope they keep "preparing" and "playing hard". We're 13 games under .500 and this weekend...well, yeah. I really hope we don't get swept.

McLaren's head will roll first, but does it really put us in a better position this season? I'm not so sure.

Yeah all that preparation, hard work, and a payroll that is in the top ten sure does seem like a recipe for losing!!!

This wouldn't suck so much if in spring training I didn't think we had a shot at anything. But i was fooled too, I thought we looked really good and poised to take the AL West....boy, was I mistaken.

    From the video description.

"I was watching the score to see who won the hockey game (damn you Detroit for winning the Stanley Cup) and I turned to the score when they shown highlights from the Angels and Mariners game when I saw the manager flip out when talking to the press. I watched the score for about a hour just to get this on video and it was worth it. He flips out because of the position the Mariners are in right now as I don't really care about baseball but this was amazing to watch."

I AGREE, this is just absurd, especially after how promising they looked in spring training

You know it. That is why this SUCKS so much - because we looked so damn good in spring training. Fucking Bedard was supposed to be our saviour. That sure hasn't panned out the way we all thought.

it looks like lee elia has some influence on more than just the hitters. :)

I'm happy Elia is signed on as the hitting coach, there's nowhere to go but up for the Mariners now....
That final loss to Bahston was a heartbreaker. Bedard was completely worn down. Third inning was horrible, 40 or so pitches in almost 100 degrees, fucking crazy

the thing is...how much better is he going to be at resuscitating this team? hasn't he BEEN working with hitters all season long as a special assistant?

i don't really see how moves like this are supposed to help.

bill bavasi needs to take a look at the man in the mirror. whose players are stepping up to bat?

can you really blame Pentland for that?
i mean, he's the guy who turned Sammy Sosa from a dude who hit 30 homeruns to hit 65 homeruns, struck out less and had a better OBP.
...and that was pre-cork, mind you!

I get that, but Lee really hasn't been the man in charge of the hitters, now he is.

The way I see it, this is the first of many firings that are about to happen.

Definitely. I'm just uncomfortable with Bavasi being in charge of the overhaul/rebuilding.
