Finished 'running with scissors' by Augusten Burroughs.

I was in the bookstore and for some reason I picked up this book after searching 'social change'. This memoir is definitely about 'social change'. haha. What a trip!

Just finished DRY by the same author. Read it!

  • Was stuck on 2 flights on Saturday and had good quiet time to read. Read 1 book (they are short) on each flight and liked the both.
The Gaiman is a beautiful work -- the guy can write with such versatility, just never know what you are going to get....but you can trust it to be good.
The Drop was fun, you could tell he wrote it to be a movie but I still enjoyed it. Not nearly his best work, but entertaining.
Started the 3rd book in the Century Trilogy, Edge of Eternity, last night. Looking forward to it!

Am I the last person in the world to read this book? It's amazing. And I'd never heard of it. (I wrote about it on my blog - if you go to my website you can read the piece.) "THE great time- travel story," says Stephen King.

And on your recommendation I have also downloaded it to my kindle tonight and hope to start soon.

At the urging of a friend, I just re-read The Fionavar Tapestry, which I last read as a teenager. Took a while to get into it, and I can't really handle Kay's overblown prose any more, but I did enjoy it in the end.

I started reading it in HS, but never finished until this summer. I agree -- it is a very amazing book.

    I just finished reading this:

    image

I read the unabridged version, and it took me about two months. I could have finished it faster, but, you know, life.

Really a quite wonderful read. I'd love to read it again ... but at more than 1,450 pages, I'm in no rush. I'm on to shorter, simpler books now, like this:

    "Where's KW?"
    "Let's check Idaho."

Just ordered this based on your recommendation...for all of you avid readers, this is the best site...i've gotten dozens (and gotten rid of dozens) of books here. it's a great swap concept and can save lots of $ on books...i still like real pages :-) anyway, I'm reading the Secrets of the Immortal Nicolas Flamel series by Michael Scott.

    Going to start this tomorrow.

Let us know what you think, I loved it.

Fantastic read. A little sensationalized/dramatic at times but I still couldn't put it down. I gifted it to my Uncle at Christmas who was in the war and he stayed up all night reading it. Woke up the next morning and there he was at breakfast waiting to talk to me about it, no sleep.

Hostage by Kay Hooper....it's really good, my first experience with her, luckily you don't have to read her books in order, but I really want to get the rest of her "Bishop" series!!!

In the midst of two books right now, the always epic Silent Spring by Rachel Carson and World Made by Hand by James Howard Kunstler. I seem to be on an apocalyptic bent at the moment.
Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?

Seems my preconceptions are what should have been burned...

Yes, that's a pretty good one; maybe not as good as the first two, though.

Poo, I liked the 2nd one much less than the first. Oh well, after reading a large book heavy with history, plot, etc...will be good to bang through a light book and complete the trilogy.
