I keep reading about fans going to get tickets to the New York or Boston shows... i even read about Hartford... but no one is talking about the DC show? I mean come on... its an election year, Bush's last year in office, the war is still on... Eddie is going to have field day at this show! I bet this show will rock!
agreed!
also why besides the 2 MSG shows, Dc is the only other we plan to attend. going to make a mini holiday out of it, go saturday thru monday, stay at a nice hotel, etc. i most definitely think it'll be a GREAT show. hartford is really the only other show that would fit our schedule, but we went there last tour and.....eh. time to try another city. DC is it!

Maybe we could finally say "Hello!"

i hope so! hope there's a meet-up planned and you most definitely are tops of the list to meet!
btw - thank you. you posted a link to DC hotels in another thread the other day. i bookmarked it b/c it really gave a great listing of places nearby the venue.
i haven't been to DC since i was a child, so it'll be fun to revisit. is the venue in the city, or the outskirts? if we get a hotel close to the venue, will it be easy to get to downtown DC proper, do some sightseeing and such?

I'm going with my 11 year old niece so I'm not sure what time I'll have before the show. However, we'll see
The venue is in the city proper in a neighborhood called Gallery Place/Chinatown which is about 5 blocks from the mall with all the museums, and a long hop skip jump from the Washington Monument (about 20-30minute walk.) Sometimes I would get off at that metro stop instead of the one closest to my work just to have a nice walk across the mall in the morning. I work a couple blocks from the White House. I think the mall is the best that DC has to offer. June will be a hot/humid time, like NY but a little bit worse, but there is so much to walk to. The Library of Congress is a long walk away or two metro stops. There's the Shakespeare Folger Library near the Library of Congress. The long walk to the Washington Memorial is just a little short in distance from the mega monument madness i.e., Korean Memorial, VietNam War Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, WWII Memorial etc. On or near the Mall are the newish National Museum of the American Indian and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. I haven't been to the second one, yet.
I'm still trying to find the PERFECT cappucino. M.E.Swings, which is closer to the White House is pretty good.

This DC show will be the first I am missing in over 12 years. I have a biz trip scheduled at that time and cannot easily change it at this point.
So, I guess that just clears the way for someone with a higher # to get a slightly better seat. I am 183XXX, which got me row "W" last time (not so great), but I did get row 12 when they were at Nissan Pavilion in 2003.
Bummer. If someone snags me a poster, I will be eternally grateful...

besides masters of war and boom practicing his intro to betterman for storytellers. the last time in dc was uneventful and the height of inner band turmoil i might add
Release, Low Light, I Got Shit, Present Tense, Masters Of War, Killer RVM..
I dont understand how people could hate on DC 06.
Cant wait for this next show!
What "inner band turmoil" was the earlier poster referring to? DC 06 was a great show.
Opening with Release, wrapping up with Leash and a kick-ass Star Spangled Banner from Mike makes it a bad show??? I have to strongly disagree, DC06 was an amazing show all around.
Having gone to all the DC/MD/VA shows since 2000, I can say that they have been good, but not great. In 06, I went to both Chicago shows and they were indeed more intense and the crowd was much better. What happened here in 2003 at Nissan Stone Ridge, was due to hellacious traffic, the show started off very somber, the band played 4-5 slow songs to let people get into the venue. This just paved the mood for the rest of the show.
DC fans are somewhat laid back, I guess I'm describing more of myself. When I'm in the first few rows, I focus more on the music as opposed to jumping or raising my arms in the air. Call it age, but the people who have been fans for 15 + years appreciate the shows but you probably wont see it much based on their reaction.

Very well said. I haven't been to a PJ concert here yet, but DC people don't seem to get too passionate about anything (sports, concerts...) or at least there's no hype or buzz that I hear. So I don't see the crowd here being too intense. But that doesn't mean they don't appreciate the music or aren't having a good time.
I mentioned this in the other DC thread, but RFD again before the show sound good???
my husband and I sat with wildchildrose in 2006. I saw roche from dc101 and waved to him. He could have cared less til I pointed to Rose and he came over.

Yeah, we all had a good time on the flight/emergency landing on the way to Seattle in 05.
I'm in!! Great timing; I'll be flying from Seattle for a week of training in DC beginning the day after the show. It'll be good to see a show with the East coast gang.

Any chance someone could post the link to the thread that has the DC hotels link mentioned here/below- I've seen that there are several hotels on Capitol Hill close to the venue and the museums but I would love a local's perspective. We are hoping to check out the Spy Museum on Sunday afternoon. Any help would be great!!

how far is the venue from mass transportation (amtrak, chinatown bus...)?
If you take Amtrak into Union Station, from there you can jump on the Metro (red line) and go straight to the Verizon Center (Gallery Place / Chinatown stop...you literally come up underneath the venue). It's about a 5 minute ride. Use the link below for the map (note that Union Station is 3 stops to the right of the middle of the map).

We all can't be Philly, you know.....
You are U, who you are.
The version of Fuckin Up was one of the best I ever heard, Mike's solo was amazing and Eddie's vocals were great.
Looking forward to the show this year.
but I would like to say hi to ms. haiku, decides2dream and ONELOVE (now I've got that U2 song in my head!)
just say hi b/c we've been talking on here for years...
