Wow...I just checked out the Pats schedule to see if they had a legite shot at going unbeaten....They should....what a week ass schedule they have had all year....aside from the Colts and Cowboys who have they played? They should beat the Dolphins, Jets, Bills twice by a shitload of points...come on! Aside from possibly the Steelers and maybe Giants who else do they play...nobody! IF they do go unbeaten there should be two asterisks by them....caught as cheaters and pussy ass schedule!

based on 2006 team records, the pats had the 3rd toughest schedule.

Which is why they continue to play well into the 4th quarter, to keep their focus, to continue to improve.

Yet, people still whine about running up the score.

    People just don't get it.

It can happen, but it won't. They are going undefeated unless they are playing all third-stringers against the Giants in week 17, and then, maybe.

2, count 'em 2 teams with winning records, and they were 8-6.
Tha Pats will have played a team that should be 14-2 (Dallas), probably 13-3 (Colts), both on the road, as well as a probable 11-5 Pittsburgh team and likely 10 or 11 win Giant team. Additionally Cleveland, SD, Was and Phil may all be .500 or better.
So its not as weak as you perceive.

and the pats whooped the chargers when people still thought they were going to be a super bowl contender and not a pathetic pretender.

also, in 1972 there was no salary cap. there was no free agency. the defensive rules were no where near as strict as they were today.

not sure where you're going with the comments about the defensive rules being different in 72, that applys to all teams ...

but indeed, the free agency and salary cap rules allowed teams like Miami, and more notably Pittsburgh to amass juggernaut teams and not lose ANY of their talent to other teams ... huge difference to the current ladscape of pro football.

to be honest, i'm not sure where i was going with that either. i was more in the flow of typing than thinking i guess...but i guess i just meant to say it was a different style of game.

COULD BE THE GREATEST FOOTBALL TEAM OF ALL TIME. they will probably go undefeated and squash some records and win the super bowl.

  • What a joke, an asterisk? Because they got caught cheating against the lowly Jets? So the rest of the season post cheating is deserving of an asterisk because of the 1st half vs. the Jets?

Wow, again this is one of the reasons they are pounding teams so bad, people piling on.

  • I hate the patriots. They are not even in my conference (GIANTS), but their fans are obnoxious and I am surrounded by them (I live in MA) and no team should be this good.

Its like the niners and cowboys back in the day. they were the best so they were not liked. nobody likes a winner who keeps on winning.

that said, asterisk my ass. they were caught week two, doing the same shit they all do. Besides, they are not just beating teams with last minute field goals, they are embarrassing them. seriously, teams cannot stop them at all. they score at will. its fucked up. I have watched the NFL since I was born 33 years ago, and I have never seen a team this awesome. 85 bears were all defense. the niner teams and cowboy teams were balanced, but they didnt dominate like this. if they keep this up, they have to be considered the greatest team of all time. they are not winning 24-20 games (minus colts), they are winning 56-10, 38-7, 52-7, etc. Domination.

    GO JAGS!

for the record ... 49ers, cowboys .... cheated.

went outside the rules of salary cap to get the teams they had .... no asterisks there.

none of this means diddly poo(1) if they don't win the superbowl ...

so, what will be the spread when they play the Dolphins? 20? 24? off the board?

a figurative asterisk (aka "*") is one of the dumbest things ever created.

it is what the media creates to drum up controversy and viewer/readership and what haters of certain players, teams, coaches, etc create to use as a crutch when trying to explain or rationalize their hatred of a player, team, coach, etc.

does anyone that dislikes the pats have anything constructive to offer to the argument other than "they are cheaters?"

    yeah, i didn't think so.

pats fans have accepted the unfortunate fact that they were caught breaking nfl rules (videotaping defensive signals, aka - cheating) because the commish handed down his fine to the pats, to belichick and took away their 2008 first round draft pick (but thanks 49ers for sucking ass this year, bob kraft will send you a thank you card and a gift basket for the top 5-10 pick next year).

they have played two good teams all year and barely won both games. colts lost the game (pats didnt really win it) and dallas fought with them up until the fourth quarter (score didnt show how close of a game it really was).

Im calling a patriots loss in the afc championship.

actually, with the Jets and the Rams winning this week, and the 49ers still losing, we may be up to a #2 pick by now! :D

it does highlight something ... the pats are just smart ... smug and cocky, yeah ... but, c'mon ...

they traded thier #1 pick in 2007 (28 overall) to the 49ers last year for the 49ers first round pick in 2008 and the 49ers 4th round pick in the 2007 draft.

Oh, then the Pats turned around and traded that EXACT same 4th round pick to Oakland for Randy Moss. And now, they'll probably be in the top 5 of the '08 draft, which they'll turn into a bunch of other good stuffs (no way they keep that pick) .... the depth they've achieved by trading down has been unbeleivable.

The asterisk has already been placed.

That could be true, I have a reserved feel for that sort of scenario. However, when you've been a fan since childhood in 72' one has just got to ride the wave. The Pats have seen some really ugly years indeed.

Again we shall how this all turns out, this is a fun year in BEANTOWN.

the colts lost and not the pats won? whatever you say dude. a win is a win and a loss is a loss.

and don't try to tell me the cowboys/pats game was close - it was over half way through the 3rd quarter if not earlier. kyle eckel scored a TD! i mean, come on, beating one of the top 2-3 teams in the nfc 48-27 is not considered a close game.

i could totally see the pats losing any game the rest of the year, but right now the next game is sunday night at gillette vs. the eagles. one game at a time, one game at a time...

i was trying to be conservative on the 49ers pick.

i can't imagine they'll keep a top 5-10 pick unless there is a player available that they cannot pass up on (ie - a D lineman in the mold of richard seymour). the amount of guaranteed money is just too much.

Colts pretty much choked at the end of that game. Pats took advantage of it, but the colts really came up short.

I wouldnt say being down to the cowboys towards the middle/end of the third quarter = a blowout. They put on all those points after the game was out of reach. Granted the cowboys defense played terrible that game, but the cowboys proved to be competition for the pats.

but it won't matter, because you think the pats won't even make the superbowl ... so ... why do you even care about the Pats?

Cowboys v Packers ... now there will be a good game!

Cowboys Vs Packers will be a good game. Big Favre vs Little Favre

They are going to see a lot of amped up teams come playoff time. They have played very well in previous years, but now they have a bullseye on them.

Its going to be interesting no matter how it turns out though.
