Michigan is getting smacked like a $5 whore at White Castle.

  • Game Over.

    Osu 42, Mu 39.

  • These two teams are no question the two best in the country.........any other matchup in the championship and I'll just rent a movie that night and call this game the championship game.

it seems to me that a lot of the talking heads on ESPN are against a rematch....and Bob Davie said that the teams were no doubt the two best but he was against a rematch? How the fuck does that work?

The BCS is a bunch of bullshit.

Well that sucked. Oh well, I guess I'll be going to the Rose Bowl and watching USC kick the @#$% out of OSU in the BCS title game.

If they rematch and Michigan wins, then who is the national champ?
  • whoever wins the champhionship game.

same as NFL. say the patriots and bears play eachother in the super bowl. the winner of thier regular season game doesnt really mean dick at that point.

If college football had a playoff system, that would be more than correct. Too much of a chance I think with a rematch that there could be 3 one-loss teams if Michigan then beat OSU.

Michigan would be. Just like any other time, they won when it counted. Take last year, for example, in the NFL. During the regular season, Indianapolis beat Pittsburgh, but in the playoffs, when it counts, Pittsburgh beat Indianapolis and advanced to the next round, and eventually the Super Bowl. They won when it counted.
    Pittsburgh 6/23/06
    Madison Square Garden 6/25/08

My point is, this isn't the NFL, there is no playoff system. I totally agree with yours and Franks scenario, as far as the NFL. I just don't think all the voters will agree with that, and even if Michigan loses, I think a lot of people will want to recognize OSU as well. Maybe not co-champs but it certainly wouldn't be like winning the superbowl, in my opinion anyways.

waaaaa waaaa. classic michigan response... you're just like your coach. michigan deserves the champsionship bid more than usc, but of course osu doesn't stand a chance against usc.

for the record, whoever osu plays is going to get destroyed. the only team that stood a chance against them lost last night.

Well it took a couple of days to bring myself to post on here again soulsinging....Congrats man. I of course agree that it should be a rematch and if it is I don't think Michigan will get destroyed since they only lost be 3 points, your response is a classic OSU reply. You can't deny we found a way to slow you down in the second half and if I were you I wouldn't want to play us again, but you'll never admit that.....haha

mabye you didnt read my post carefully... i said michigan was the only team NOT in the getting destroyed camp. they are clearly the 2nd best team in the country and the only team who can compete with ohio state this year. i was only taking issue with the fact that the poster simultaneously seemed to think michgan was better than usc, but ohio state (who beat michigan) would get their asses kicked by usc. which makes absolutely no sense.

im up in the air about a rematch. on the one hand, i dont think anyone deserves that bid more than michigan. on the other hand, i kinda feel like the game has been played and we ought to leave it at that. i also like the thought of osu and michigan playing in separate bowl games against, say, florida and usc, to show that the big ten is a force and that these two teams are hands down the best in the nation. cos you know if osu and michigan play again, people will piss and moan about how soft the big ten sched was this season and how usc or florida or *insert critic's darling southern team here* would have killed either of them.

so that's mainly why im opposed to a rematch. if it happens though, i say bring it on and im not afraid to play it. as exciting as it was, i think the score was slightly closer than the game actually was and i feel like if they played again, even in neutral territory, ohio state would win again. it would be hard fought, it would be close, but i am confident that ohio state won convincingly.

in the end, it was a helluva game and i dont think a rematch could be any better. besides, there will be a rematch next year ;) let both teams walk away proud to have played one helluva game and let them go on to show the rest of the country that big ten football is where it's at.

WOW. I didn't think I'd get that kind of response. I was bummed UM lost. That's what I thought sucked. The game was a classic.

You know, I'm not delusional. SC still has to play it's biggest rivals so anything can happen. But, soul, I think you and I can agree that we would much rather see UM or SC play OSU in the title game than Florida or Arkansas. And if ND somehow beats SC and they get #2 in the BCS I will file a class action suit against the NCAA.

great game. lived up to the hype. fun to watch
  • First, congrats SS on the vic. What a great game that was. What i don't get is how urban meyer can bitch about a rematch when Florida clearly benefitted in 1996 when FSU beat Florida in the regular season but the two got a rematch in the orange bowl and Florida ended up winning the game and the championship. If Michigan doesn't get a rematch (which i think they will... touchdown Charlie's had to have been preparing for ND-SC for a long time) i hope they get florida in the Rose Bowl so they can show the SEC and the Gators what's up.

SEC and Rose Bowl should never be said in the same sentence EVER!

If Michigan really is the second best team in college football, they should play Osu again. Don't give me any of that crap (this isn't addressed to you. It's more for people like Urban Meyer) about how a rematch would cheapen the significance of the first meeting. College Football Coaches like Urban Meyer wanted the computers to decide things. As one of the writers for my local paper said, you either live with the computers or you dump them, you can't just unplug them. If Michigan is deemed better than USC (and I went to USC. So I'm not biased against them) and Florida by the bcs system that the coaches themselves wanted when all is said, then they should play Osu again

i would not mind playing florida or arkansas at all. though my roomate went to uf so i may just want to rub it in his face there ;)

honestly, i feel like a rematch would only taint and confuse what was a stellar season for both teams. if michigan loses again, their near-flawless season looks not so appealing. if ohio state loses, you have those annoying 1-1 naysayers.

truly, i like the thought of letting osu and michigan both go out strong on a big win against a great opponent. it is clear they are the best two teams in the country. if michigan plays osu and loses or vice versa, you're going to have one of those teams drop out of the top 2 or 3. bring on florida and usc, let ohio state and michigan beat them both and finish 1 and 2 as they should be.

however, i guess if lsu beats arkansas and arkansas beats florida and notre dame beats usc and thus is the only one-loss team besides michigan, then michigan has to go. in any other scenario, i say send osu and michigan to separate bowl games and let them both play diff one-loss teams just to emphasize how good they are.

i dont think it would cheapen the first game at all. im just convinced michigan wouldn't win a rematch either and id rather see them beat florida or something and finish number 2 than lose to osu again and finish 4th or 5th.

plus, i kinda want osu to hve a crack at usc. at the end of last season i was convinced osu was a better team than usc or texas. granted, usc is not the same team they were last year, but nonetheless i like a chance for osu to rattle that invincible trojans bubble the critics have given them over the past few years.

truly, having watched michigan, i dont think anyone can stop osu's offense. im sorry but when you can run 5 quality wide receivers and a qb with enough cool to run through the progressions and find the open one under pressure... he's going to beat you every time. if you try to cover them all, he either runs, or gives it to their 2 top notch backs to run on you. they simply cannot be stopped. osu went conservative coming into the second half and that's the only reason the michigan game was as close as it was. tressel wont make that mistake again. whoever plays them needs a miracle. id just as soon it not be michigan. they played a helluva game, but i dont think they'd get that close again.

I'd love either team. I'm an Arkansas fan, and went to law school there, so I'd love to see that....though that is a long shot at this point.

But it is not a long shot for Arkansas to beat Flordia in the SEC championship. I'm looking forward to that game!!! Should be a great one....but AR must focus on LSU first.

I went to UF also for a year to study tax law, but was not there long enough to become a Gator fan.

And I know USC beat AR at the first of the year, but I'd love to see them match up again.....AR is not the same team since that loss...it would be a much better game.

I agree... unfortunately that is today's college football... losing its tradition one year at a time.

man, there were some harsh lessons last january... :)

anyway, thought i'd bump this. not quite as much at stake this season, certainly nowhere near the excitement of last season, but i'm still excited and it's still one of the greatest rivalries in all of sports. can the buckeyes keep hart/henne oh for ohio? i think so.

this time it's not for all the marbles, but like the good ole days, it's for the big ten championship and the rose bowl. i dig :D
