cool art deco theater in town was asking for artists to submit work to be hung in the lobby and cafe for a month, i sent a couple pieces last week, and got the news today i was one of the folks picked they'll even do an opening party :eek:
wow....this must be a really fancy spot......again...good luck and I hope you sell everything...is this a hobby or your profession.....
it's a local theater but yeah, they get a lot of people wanting the exposure so i feel lucky. i do graphic design as part of my job but the drawings i do are on my own time for my own enjoyment, hopefully i can parlay that into something where i can get some extra cash too

i got some bad news just now though.....one of my aunts in spain just passed away :( i only met her twice so it's like i feel bad but i feel worse for my dad.
so yeah, my parents aren't coming to the reception tonite :(

i know, it was weird cuz i had left work a bit ago, just went in for a little bit to get some stuff shipped out, my dad had called my office to ask me if he could pick anything up for tonite, and then he got a call from a sister who gave him the news, and my sis just called to tell me. he just took off for a walk so i'm gonna go over to their house and spend a little time with them. my mom was upset by the timing.

last night went well! despite the fact my parents weren't able to be there i had a good turn out, and it came in waves so it wasn't like there were a ton of people and then they all left lol lots of friends, my boss and her daughter, students from the lab came out too. it really touched me to see everybody there.
one of my friends is dating someone on the city council, he made an announcement about my exhibition at the council meeting! :eek: he also took a pic of me next to my centerpiece print so he could put in the city newsletter
overall it was a great experience, i was so anxious and worried too about the weather deterring folks - it was pouring all afternoon but thankfully the rain stopped like at 5:30 and held off the rest of the night! had a late dinner with friends afterwards.
OMG i feel SOOOOOOO relieved...whew! i'll share pics when i get them from my sis
