my first art exhibition

cool art deco theater in town was asking for artists to submit work to be hung in the lobby and cafe for a month, i sent a couple pieces last week, and got the news today i was one of the folks picked they'll even do an opening party :eek:

i am BEYOND excited for this. yay!

thank you! oh i doubt i'll ever be famous haha but just to get my stuff featured for a whole month, in a building i love in my own neighborhood...i'm really really excited i've had stuff exhibited when i was in school but never something like this of my drawings. i'm gonna have to check out the space and see what pieces to frame up. also making a price list....babygirl gonna try to make some money off this event hahaha

This is huge! You could be famous! We can say we knew you way back when!
What type of art work is it? Are they paintings? That's a really big deal Chiqui.

And hell yeah get paid!!! Hee hee. Ooh I'm so excited. That's probably the coolest thing I've heard all day!

congratulations!! you are very talented and do beautiful work.

they are lucky to have your works on display. good for you girl.
i'm sure you are on cloud nine. you never know where something
like that could lead.

it's my drawings, all done in pen and ink and then either colored with pencils or on the computer. so all i'd need to do is just get them framed and print the ones i've colored to whatever size i need to do. gives me some time to work up some new stuff too, already got the gears going as to what theme i could do, depending on how many pieces i can have exhibited. to have it up for a whole month really has me excited.

allie actually one thing i need to do is start up a cafepress shop, that way i could get more stuff out there, make postcards/mini posters, that sorta deal. basically i just wanna hustle lol and yeah if i had my own gallery i'd explode

thanks wolf! and yeah i was thinking of entering the contest, i just hope they can give info on the deadline and if they accept multiple entries. it'd just be fun to do for the hell of it

speedy - LMAO. i put a lot of thought into that piece. primarily how the left leg stands out in front of the skirt. shows defiance of society, strength. and sorta looks like a golf club but dunno what the meaning is behind that haha

If you made enough money selling your work you could open your own gallery one day
well if you get your own online type thing let me know, I'll promote it for you.

yup, it's an online store where people can sell their own designs (http://www.cafepress.com/). they take care of the inventory/production/payment/shipping, and you can set the price. i figure that's one venue i can pursue, won't hurt to try anyway

and thanks, when i do get the shop started i'll pass the link on, the word of mouth would be really helpful!
