    I just use Vitamin E love. :)

For burns and scalds, powdered Vitamin E in a little water, then soak gauze in it and drape it gently over the burn. It made a huge difference to the healing on a really, really bad burn I had years ago.

And I just prick a Vitamin E cap with a pin and rub the oil on other injuries.

    Oh and take zinc! :)

I second that! and if you need something to keep it moist, if its drying out inbetween, use Aquafor. Thats what they used on my brothers skin when he was really sick, and it all came off. The new skin was wrapped and lathered in Aquafor.. it keeps the itch away.

Oh also.. DO NOT get it sun tanned/burned for atleast a year, doing that to a scar/new tissue will cause it to split worse, and create a scar for life. Both me and my brother were advised on this for skin scarring reduction.

I applied a Vitamin E gel something on my scars for a couple weeks. It was offered at the salon I went to. I used it to loosen up the scar tissue underneath the skin. Don't know if it worked as I only tried it a couple times, but I definitely believe that scar tissue could become more flexible.

Zinc tablets help to maintain healthy skin and assist in the healing of wounds. Zinc may assist in restoring and maintaining a healthy immune system reducing the frequency of minor respiratory infections.

Girl that pierced my tongue suggested it and I tried it and it did seem to help. Since then I've used it a lot whenever I've had tissue injuries and I believe it helps so much. Noticed the difference in the healing process. I've even recommended it to a relative that has diabetes and is constantly getting soft tissue injuries. :) Of course I'm no doctor or scientist, and it might not work for you, but give it a try, you can only see hey? :)

Looks painful! My stitches were spread out that far. It's actually a tidy scar as the spacing looks even; and the stitches sewn methodically. I was in a car crash with my twin almost 20 years ago. She had a tidy scar, too, in the back of her head. The stitches came out smoothly when it was time for the doctors to pull them.

I would use an experience like that as an excuse for my entire family to PAMPER me for weeks!

Sun burn or tanning are the worst thing you can do to your skin and so lethal really. It's a shame that people don't realize the dangers till it's too late.

I can't remember what Mum put on my burn after it started healing and it crisped up. I just remember the wet gauze and how soothing it was. It was such a long time ago, but I've had doctors look at the scar since and hear how it was, how it happened and they're always amazed at how well it healed. You can barely see it now. :) I'm so glad your brother is better btw! :)

    goodness sorry about the crash!

it seems to be healing well so far, i left it uncovered all day and worked at home so that helped a lot.

and yeah everybody has been helping me so much, since i'm right handed i can't drive or write (can only use 3 fingers and the middle one feels tight against my pointer) so my sis has been a godsend, doing groceries for me and everything. i am truly grateful for the support family and friends give me, that is a good feeling beyond the frankenpaw lol

I know a lot of people have said this but the Vitamin E cream works great. I had foot surgery a little over a month ago and my doctor says the scars are healing incredibly fast. I started using it 3 or 4 times a day the minute I got the hard cast off. I think that stuff is a little mircle on a bottle.

    Good advise!

I was in a really bad car accident and gashed my face wide open straight through and needed about 200+ stitches. I had a plastic surgeon and he said the most important thing was massaging the scar tissue (I used Vitamin E also) and staying out of the sun/using sun block. I did it faithfully and you can barely see my scar now...

Good luck and keep consistent care!

Damn! :( .....that was one nasty looking cut!

Not sure if anybody here has suggested it ....but I find Neosporin products really facilitate the healing process and also lessen visible scars. I have had more than my share of wipeouts on my mountain bike and I have found every time I use the cream they heal quicker and diminish the visibility of the scars. Here is a link to the website ...I haven't tried the patches they mention but the cream has worked well for me.

Chiq, what about Bepanthen? You know it's for nursing mothers? Stops cracked, dry nipples? It has antiseptic properties me thinks. Might soften it up a little, make it less "tight" and stop it hurting so much?

I was pretty hammered tonight but not as bad as friday. I made it back here alone and am writing this to you cohesively. how goes?

Actually J, I was a good gal and had an alcohol free evening last night. Which was great an all except I didn't have a sleeper either, (thought I'd clean up me act for a day :o ) and I was still sitting here at 3.30am. which of course meant I was snacking.
