    stepping on glass or in a bear trap is probably worse...

    as for encountering various assortments of fecus....remove shoe...find garden hose...and spray...(carefully)

    absolutely!
    however gum ruined one of my most fave pair of shoes this past summer....impossible to remove! not only that, b/c they were rather open shoes, it actually got IN the shoe as i was walking, thus why they were completely ruined since it was impossible to get OUT of the shoe/sole....but it also got on my foot! :eek: it was utterly disgusting. i had to deal with the stickiness for almost 2 hours until i made it home. ugh. some seriously nuclear gum.

    While your observations of glass and bear traps are undeniable (not personal experience, I hope), I doubt the masses require cleaning directions ;)
